1966 Chrysler 300 2 Door Hardtop Take a 300 home to your best gal. Zing! Just the sight of this Chrysler cruising down your street will impress a lot of people, it's that good looking. But, that's nothing compared to what you'll be feeling as you drive. There's no other car like the 300. Inside. Or out. Every 300 caries as standard equipment a 383 cubic inch V 8 with 4-barrel carburetor. From the 1966 brochure. For consignment, a 1966 Chrysler 300 2 door hardtop with a title verified 78,647 actual miles. In '66, 49,598 Chrysler 300's were produced and about half of them were two door hardtops. Exterior Fantastically angular, there's not a circular curve on this car anywhere except for the roofline and even that is not even extremely round. Trim accentuates the right angles of the car beginning with the fender trim that runs uninterrupted along the shoulder line with a laser straight polished piece that runs parallel to its twin on the lower section. In profile, one can't miss the dual faux vents on the fender and their wildly creative jump to the door. In back, fender skirts keep the slab sided cruiser true. Both the front and rear fascia take up similar angles, turning sharply inwards to house the dual headlights and striated tail lights that contour to the line at the end of a long decklid. 14-inch Mopar road wheels carry 215/75R14 tires with a date code of mid 2023. Overall, the paint, body, and trim will need some attention with substantial amounts of surface rust, rust bubbles, cracking paint, and an area of rust through. Interior Straight lines define the door panels as well with black vinyl taking center stage, a hockey stick shaped trim piece and a carpeted lower and both present in decent condition. Uniquely shaped and wide bucket seats take up the front with a padded console and armrest between them. Both sides show some wear with splitting at the seams and cracking. The rear bench is in nice condition including the sidewalls and package tray. A horn ring fronts the black steering wheel which leads to the arching speedometer, textured metal face plate on the mid panel, and bright metal knobs and buttons all the way across. That's where we find the AM radio and clock above a Monitor Mark IV air conditioner. The open floor is covered in black loop carpet and rubber mats, and along with the black headliner, are in good condition. The trunk is barren and raw and shows use and some surface rust. Drivetrain It's driver quality in the bay where the 383ci V8 resides, capable of 325 horsepower and fueled by a rebuilt 4-barrel carburetor. It's mated to a A727 Torqueflite 3-speed automatic sending power to the 8 ¾ rear axle. Undercarriage Driver quality here too with typical long term surface rust, fluid on the transmission pan, and build up grime on the oil pan and knuckles. That said, there's no invasive rust evident. A single exhaust flows through a stock style muffler and power drum brakes are found front and rear with new shoes and wheel cylinders. Suspension consists of torsion bars up front and leaf springs in the back. Drive-Ability Make no mistake, this is a big boxy car and sitting in the pilot's seat affords a view over a substantial hood with the ornament leading the way. The 383 comes to life with a more pedestrian exhaust note than your average muscle car, and the car floats through the test loop, tracking straight, braking well, and providing predictable handling around turns. Except for the air conditioner, all functions on and in the car operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Here's one that doesn't come up for consignment that often. But it's demonstratively 60's with straight panels, right angles, and stylish trim. This one has very good bones for cosmetic restoration but can also be driven as is. Nothing wr
