When the C4 debuted for the 1984 model year, it was a quantum leap for Chevy's iconic Corvette. With its cast-iron block, lightweight aluminum heads, tuned-port injection system, and factory exhaust setup, this small block was capable of producing a legitimate 245 horsepower at 4,300 rpm and 340 pound-feet of torque at 3,200 rpm when I rolled off the assembly line. That power is funneled through a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission before being sent out to the 2.59-geared rear end, which transfers those ponies to the pavement via a set of big five-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels shod in 285/35ZR-19 Hankook rubber. At the same time, a staggered set of 18-inch wheels wrapped in narrower 245/40ZR-18 tires handles steering duties up front.
