Delivering 221 cubic inches, 65 horsepower, and 125 ft-lbs of torque, this engine marked a turning point in affordable performance. Ford even shut down all production lines to retool for its launch. Other firsts included a synchronizing transmission and dual water pumps, ensuring smoother operation and better cooling.
