Seller's Notes

1963 Chevrolet Nova SS Tribute The Chevy II was introduced in 1962 and only had detailed improvements for the 1963 model year. There were three series 100, 300 and Nova 400 and 10 regular models including sedans, station wagons, hardtops and convertibles. A new Super Sport package was available on the Nova 400 coupe and convertible. The SS package included finned wheel covers, wider body side moldings, aluminized rear panels, 6.50x13 bsw tires, SS emblems and cost $161. Over 44,000 Nova SS coupes and convertibles were produced during the 1963 model year. Gm.com/heritage For consignment, a 1963 Chevrolet Nova SS tribute showing 17,648 miles, but the true miles are unknown. The Nova SS found an audience despite the fact that, at first, the only available engine was an inline six cylinder with 120 horsepower. Exterior If you're going to have a hot car, you might as well make it arrest me red, or in this case, officially Bright Red in two stage application. This classically boxy compact boasts polished trim that rides the ridge of the fender and along the shoulder line and a framing piece around the rear panel that descends to a straight chrome bumper. While we're back here, take note of the simple tail lights that split red and white lenses and include a reflective red center design element, each flanking spear trim on the deck panel. Straight lines dominate the front grille and its chrome bumper with polished rings around the single headlights. Finned rocker trim adds a touch of aggression between the 15-inch Cragar SS chrome wheels wrapped in staggered size tires with a mid 2023 date code. Imperfections are limited to a scratch on the edge of a door. Interior Classic black door panels topped with painted headers and lowers present smooth and clean on both sides. The black motif continues to the front low back bucket seat with ornamental trim on the upper and stitch mid panels and along with the back bench, are in excellent condition. A wood rimmed steering wheel fronts the black painted dash back when hard surfaces still reigned up front, here housing the oval instrument cluster with an upgraded Sunpro tach in the center. A Pioneer AM/FM/Cassette player brings things forward 20 or so years from 1963 while metal knobs remind you of the vintage. The shifter housing is a neat design that offsets the shifter towards the driver, naturally, and surrounds it with ribbed metal over black loop carpet, all in good shape. The black headliner is intact and shows a bit looseness in places and our trunk is barren and painted gray with a touch of surface rust in one area. Drivetrain Inside the bay, a clean engine appears and it's a 350ci V8 with a Holley 4-barrel carb over an Edelbrock intake manifold. Behind it, a 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission which routes the power the 10 bolt in back. Headers are on board to begin the exhaust process. Undercarriage No complaints under here as things are relatively clean. Sure, we have some oil film on the pans and some grease in the knuckles, but rust is limited to the occasional surface type. The brakes are super clean and look new and consist of power assisted disc brakes front and rear. The dual exhaust runs through Turbo mufflers and soon after, dumping under the car. Suspension consists of coil springs up front and leaf springs in back. Drive-Ability Some of us have a penchant for smaller classic cars, so Novas, Falcons, and Darts are right up our alley! The staggered tires help produce a sweet little rake and stance to the car and that subtle tilt makes driving it all that much better. The trusty 350 starts, idles, and advances well, and sounds fantastic doing it with just the right exhaust note. Good power, tight turns, power disc stops and power steering for icing on the cake. We note the reverse lights are not working but all other functions operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time
