This 1939 Plymouth 2 Door Sedan is the last of a pre-war generation of cars that still captured the Art Deco era when it comes to automotive design. Long hoods, tall grilles, prominent headlamps and swooping fender lines were the styling cues of the 1930's. In the late 30's, Plymouth as well as other manufactures began to integrate the headlamps into the front fenders which became the precursor of vehicle design becoming more streamlined.
The 1939 Plymouth 2 Door sedan here is finished in classic Black exterior paint over a wonderfully upholstered Grey mohair interior. The car is powered by its Inline Flathead 6 cylinder engine, 3 speed manual transmission and rear wheel drive. The exterior features wonderfully applied Black exterior paint holds a deep gloss and beautiful shine. The chrome bumpers, grill inserts and accents all remain very good and really bring to life its presentation. The interior features new upholstery throughout, coach style rear seating, original steering wheel, original dash facia and knobs and what appears to be original gauges. There are modern added gauges to ensure information accuracy. The original radio is still in place, working condition is unknown. The car rides on steel wheels with original hubcaps and wide whitewall tires.
Overall this is a wonderful example of American Pre WWII design that exhibits pure class. It is dressed to impress and will be welcome at any car show.
