1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 with Custom Big-Block Power
This classic 1967 Chevelle SS 396 features a substantial upgrade under the hood a GM Performance ZZ572 crate engine equipped with aluminum heads delivering an impressive 621 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque. The car is finished in sleek black with a red vinyl bench-seat interior and it was reportedly restored about two years ago prior to the current owner’s purchase. The restoration included many interior components with only around 1,000 miles driven since completion. The vehicle also comes equipped with cold-blowing air conditioning for added comfort.
Powertrain and Performance
The heart of this Chevelle is a 572 cubic inch big-block V8 sporting aluminum heads and an aluminum intake manifold from Chevrolet Performance. It features a Holley four-barrel carburetor Doug’s headers and Flowmaster mufflers all fed by an electric fuel pump for reliable startup. The cooling system includes an aluminum radiator and electric fan ensuring optimal temperature control. The engine is paired with a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission rated to handle up to 650 horsepower connected to a 12-bolt Posi rear with 3.73 gears. No leaks or issues have been reported with the drivetrain components.
Exterior and Body
The body and paint are described as “pristine” exhibiting no blemishes swirl marks or rust. The exterior trim glass and sealants are in very good condition. While maintaining most of the classic SS 396 look aftermarket Ridler wheels and low-profile radial tires give this Chevelle a subtle update. All lighting functions properly and there are no reported exterior modifications beyond the custom wheels.
Interior
The interior has been carefully restored with many new parts including the carpet door panels headliner seat covers and trim accents. With limited miles since the restoration the stored condition is excellent showing very little wear. All gauges including additional aftermarket instruments below the dashboard operate normally. The heater and aftermarket air conditioning system provide cooling and a vintage-style radio offers modern functionality. The trunk has been detailed with factory-style spatter paint and a reproduction trunk mats adding a finishing touch.
Chassis and Suspension
The chassis has been refurbished during the restoration featuring new shocks upgraded front disc brakes and a modern power steering system for better handling. The wheels are 18-inch Ridler alloys with plenty of tread on the radial tires. The suspension brakes and chassis components are reported to be in excellent condition with no issues or repairs needed.
