Seller's Notes

1978 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Hardtop After 4 years of the extruded aluminum bumpers, an all new body color urethane front & rear fascia was finally added to the car. The rear tail lights were redesigned as well, now incorporating 3 color lenses on either side of the fuel door in the center. The Camaro wasn't just continuing to blow the competition away on the street, but it passed the rival Mustang in the showroom again, outselling the Ford 247,437 to 179,039. There was no competition. Nastyz28.com For consignment, a 1978 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 hardtop showing 47,230 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This is not your anemic 1978 with the emission choked 185 horsepower, so if you're looking for the classic version you had in high school, swipe left. But if you don't mind 750 horsepower on 93 octane from a Pro Street version of said car, buckle up and read on! ***Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public highways in your area.*** Note: This vehicle is sold with a Pennsylvania reconstructed branding on the title Exterior In low light, it looks black, but there's no doubt this baby's covered in two stage Dark Purple pleasantly accentuated with wide silver stripes that ride the high rising cowl hood and the decklid, swooping over the spoiler. Gone are the fender vents from the front, now showing acres of smooth purple panels from the tip of the Endura nose to the back bumper cover. Staggered width Centerline wheels are appropriately old school and racy here, the rears tucking into mini tubs that accommodate their girth. Understated from the back until your eyes and ears note the gargantuan exhaust pipes that tilt outward. The car also lacks the wheel flares and chin spoiler that would have adorned a Z in '78, and here they would likely get blown off and interfere with aerodynamics. A few spider and flex cracks and a spot of bubbling are the only imperfections on the exterior and its deep purple paint. Interior The vinyl black door panels look pedestrian and clean and that's where familiarity with a stock interior ends because the next thing to greet you is a padded S&W 8 point roll cage surrounding the racing seats and their 4 point harnesses. A large tachometer mounts to the steering column and blocks most of the stock dash that remains, but you're really not going to need it as more gauges have been added below the dash, just under the toggle switch panel where a radio once was. A Winters shifter rises from the transmission tunnel and black carpet covers the footwells and the rear area with deleted seats. The headliner is sagging but you won't be bothered with your helmet on, and the trunk houses the fuel cell and battery box. Drivetrain The bay is clean and houses an impressive looking 540ci V8 with Dart Pro1 325 heads, a Lunati cam, a worked Holley 950cfm 4-barrel carburetor, and a worked World Products Merlin intake. All of this is good for a dyno proven 750 horsepower routed through an ATI Powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission sending power to the narrowed 12 bolt rear with Moser axles and 4.88 Richmond gears. Naturally, headers start the exhaust process which finds its way into collectors leading to a 4 system. Undercarriage It's clean underneath and dominated visually by the massive 4 dual exhaust that flows through race mufflers on their way to their rear exit. Obviously, there is no catalytic converter on board. Suspension entails coil springs up front and ladder bars with Hal adjustable coil overs in back. Finally, brakes are configured as disc up front and drum in the rear. Drive-Ability We feather this car around the test loop just long enough to confirm lights, gauges, brakes, steering, and oh yeah, the engine is working. And we find all systems go on this track ready Camaro. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these func
