Seller's Notes

This 1931 Ford Model A 5-Window Coupe is a beautifully restored, stock Model A that is well-optioned and ready to roll! By the late 1920s, Henry Ford's revolutionary Model T-which had transformed personal transportation since its debut in 1908-was beginning to show its age. Once the car that put America on wheels, the Tin Lizzie had become outdated with its 2-wheel brakes and planetary gearset transmission. Recognizing the need for modernization, Ford halted Model T production in May 1927, closing a remarkable chapter in automotive history. The world eagerly awaited what Henry Ford would introduce next. That answer came on December 2, 1927, with the debut of the all-new Ford Model A. Representing a complete re-engineering of Ford's passenger car line, the Model A featured roughly 6,800 individual parts-about 1,800 more than its predecessor-and showcased a host of technological and design advancements. Among its modern features were 4-wheel mechanical brakes and a conventional 3-speed manual transmission, which provided greater control and confidence on the road. Equally impressive was the Model A's styling. Larger fenders, a more sculpted radiator shell, and a bolder stance gave it a handsome, contemporary look that made the Model T seem quaint by comparison. At the rear, a single combination tail and stop light added to its streamlined and up-to-date appearance. Affordable and appealing, the Model A proved an immediate success when production began in 1928, helping Ford reclaim its top spot from Chevrolet the following year. The 1931 model year marked the end of the Model A's production run, with Ford building more than half a million units that year alone and nearly 3.5 million in total between 1928 and 1931. On April 14, 1931, the company also celebrated the production of its 20 millionth Ford automobile-a Model A, fittingly symbolizing Ford's continued innovation. Today, the 1931 Ford Model A 5-Window Coupe remains one of the most beloved vintage cars among collectors and enthusiasts. Its enduring charm, mechanical simplicity, and abundant parts support ensure that the legacy of Ford's second great automobile continues to thrive nearly a century later. Under the hood on this 1931 Model A Coupe is a 200.5 cubic inch L-Head inline 4 cylinder engine breathing through a single barrel downdraft carburetor that together were said to have produced 40 horsepower when new. The 201 4 cylinder engine is mated to a 3 speed manual transmission that is shifted via a floor-mounted shifter in the standard pattern, making this Model A an approachable pre-war classic car that anybody can enjoy. Exhaust exits the 40hp Ford powerplant via a single exhaust port that generates a terrific sound. While options for 1931 Fords were fairly rudimentary, this particular Model A Coupe is loaded with great ones! Riding on a set of wide whitewall tires mounted on Vermilion red painted Wire Wheels, this 1931 5-Window Coupe has an outstanding look whether parked at the local car show or cruising down the road. The chrome plated radiator is topped by the optional Flying Quail hood ornament and is protected by an accessory stone guard that also elevates the exterior look of this gorgeous pre-war Ford. In addition to the chrome headlights are dual chrome cowl lights that further improve visibility in low light situations. Dual covered side-mounted spare tires are another wonderful option that are both functional and add to this already great looking Coupe. Each side mount is also topped with a chrome outside mirror that improve sightlines while squeezing into a tight parking space and while cruising down the road. The driver is further aided by an auxiliary chrome outside mirror mounted on the a-pillar that is more easily adjusted by the driver while cruising. A wood-trimmed chrome luggage rack allows this Model A 5 Window to be used on overnight trips. While the Model A came with a single taillight, this particular Model A has been outfitted w
