A second-generation Camaro is already a strong foundation, but when it becomes the focus of a professional rotisserie build and a magazine feature, it reaches another level. This 1972 Chevrolet Camaro pro-tourer, nicknamed Cabin Fever, blends matured factory styling with modern engineering to create a car that looks as good as it drives. The result is a turnkey performer that was impressive enough to earn a spotlight in the February 2022 edition of All Chevy Performance Magazine. Finished in Axalta Georgia Clay, a custom pigment blended by builder Ed Nash of Chassis Crafters, the Camaro has a unique, show-quality presence. The shell received fresh AMD quarter panels, smoothed bodywork, deleted marker lights, a shaved cowl vent, and custom exhaust pockets. Subtle modifications retain the car's Camaro identity while sharpening its lines. LED lighting, smoked glass, and staggered 18x8 and 20x10 Coy's C-5 Gunmetal wheels complete the look. Detroit Speed mini-tubs were grafted into the body to provide room for the 315-series rear tires, giving ,Cabin Fever both the stance and grip expected of a modern pro-tourer. Under the hood, a 5.3-liter GM LS V8 delivers roughly 470 horsepower thanks to a Texas Speed camshaft, ported and polished CNC heads, and a Holley Terminator X fuel injection system mounted on a FiTech intake. Custom touches include Eddie Motorsports valve covers, CVF hood hinges, and fabricated inner wheelwells secured with Diamond Engineering fasteners. Ultimate Headers feed a hand-built stainless exhaust with MagnaFlow mufflers, while a Griffin radiator keeps temperatures in check. The Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission is paired with a McLeod hydraulic clutch and a Lokar shifter, sending power to a 10-bolt rear axle with an Auburn limited-slip differential with 4.30 gears and Moser axles. Chassis Crafters supplied both the custom front subframe and the 4-link rear suspension, with C6 Corvette spindles, rack-and-pinion steering, and double-adjustable QA1 coilovers at each corner. A splined NASCAR-style torsion bar up front and a Panhard bar in the rear add precise control. Sixth-generation Corvette disc brakes with 13-inch rotors in front and 12-inch rotors in the rear provide stopping power through a Wilwood manual master cylinder. The combination creates a chassis that is both streetable and track-capable, proving the car was designed to perform as much as it was to impress. The interior continues the car's pro-touring theme with a clean, custom presentation. Black leather wraps fourth-gen Camaro seats and custom panels, accented with subtle contrast stitching that adds a sporty edge. Dakota Digital VHX gauges fit neatly in the stock dash, while an American Autowire harness keeps the system tidy. Comfort comes from modern air conditioning with Vintage Air climate controls, power windows, and a custom audio system that includes a Pioneer head unit, modern speakers, and a Sundown subwoofer. Mercedes-style black carpet, a Billet Specialties steering wheel, and a polished ball shifter finish the clean and cohesive presentation. Documented with build photos, receipts, and a feature magazine spread, Cabin Fever is the product of years of skilled craftsmanship at Chassis Crafters. With its magazine pedigree, custom suspension, modern LS power, and carefully executed details, this Camaro is more than just another restomod. It is a fully realized pro-tourer that honors Chevrolet's heritage while delivering contemporary performance, making it one of the most compelling second-generation Camaros available today.
