Seller's Notes

1970 Chevrolet Nova SS Tribute  254,242 Novas were produced and sold in 1970 and of them, 19,588 were SS performance models, less than 10%. 177 were Central Office Production Order cars, (COPO), of which 175 were converted to Yenko Novas. While Camaros are often the subject of SS and Yenko tributes, the occasional Nova is also treated to some modifications and has an ardent following.  For consignment, a 1970 Chevrolet Nova SS tribute with a title verified 129,932 actual miles. This one is packing a 383 stroker V8, a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission, and comes to you with a stack of receipts documented the build and work.    Exterior While the SS became a performance model, it still sports some cosmetic cues that mere mortal Novas were not privy to. This includes of course SS badging on the grille and tail trim, engine cubes expressed on the fenders, hood louvers, and fender vents. Panels gaps here are well minded here on a body that wears two stage Cranberry Red paint that flows over the top and slopes back around a flat rear window. Single headlights and smaller rectangular tail lights suited the pedestrian version well and helped this SS tribute achieve a sleeper status as the car borrows its overall profile from the normal commuter versions. 15-inch Magnum 500 wheels add a justified sportiness to the car which otherwise would have hubcaps, and staggered sized tires create a slight rake to the stance. The paint and brightwork are in fine condition with imperfections noted that include cracking paint and a scuff on the rocker panel trim. Interior Black vinyl door cards cleanly present with a band of woodgrain trim across the top and stitch patterned inserts and both are clean and intact. Weaved pattern center strips highlight the tall black vinyl front bucket seats, also in great condition and repeated on the back bench. A sport steering wheel now shares the column with the tachometer, water, and oil gauges, all leading to a decidedly horizontal gauge cluster in which the 120 mph speedometer, mostly blocked, all behind a plexiglass cover. An AM/FM radio is in place under vent levers, and four square gauges present in the center console, and an EFI screen now occupies the ashtray compartment. A Hurst shifter rises from the center over black clean black carpet and under a slightly blemished headliner. The trunk presents cleanly and houses a spare and jack.  Drivetrain Things get serious under the hood as the clean parade continues, and maybe even crescendos! Here we have a 383ci stroker V8 with aluminum heads, Holley Sniper electronic fuel injection, and headers, and it's all spotless. It's mated to a Tremec TR3550 5-speed manual transmission that routes power to the Ford 9 Moser axle in back with 3.70 gears and Positraction.  Undercarriage Things are buttoned up and clean under here with not enough surface rust to mention and no errant fluids anywhere. The dual exhaust runs through FlowMaster mufflers and dump under the car and Wilwoods are employed on the four wheel disc brakes. Suspension is now stout with coil springs up front, and Calvert split leaf springs and relocated rear shocks along with Caltrac bars out back.  Drive-Ability This baby roars to life and grabs the ground as we circle the test loop. There's obvious power under foot and this car spins the tires when you decide to go deep with the throttle. It handles well, tracks straight, and stops when asked. The factory tachometer and console gauges are not working, but all other functions operate on this quick starter as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Once again, we encourage you to put your money down on red, because like the spinning ball of a roulette wheel, this won't be in one place very long! Nova nation is an enthusiastic one and snatches up nice builds like thi
