Seller's Notes

This 1970 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 is a US-market example that underwent a cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment in 2018. The body was refinished in Fashion Green over replacement gray upholstery, and the 3.9-liter F inline-six was rebuilt. Shifting is via a three-speed manual transmission, and the truck is equipped with a dual-range transfer case, a PTO-driven winch, 15″ steel wheels, Warn locking front hubs, a removable hardtop, front and rear cabin heaters, and inward-facing rear jump seats. Acquired by the selling dealer in 2025, this FJ40 is now offered at no reserve with a binder of service records, spare parts, a bottle jack, and a clean California title. The body was refinished in Fashion Green following rust repair, and the frame was powder-coated black. The bumpers were refinished and the cable for the PTO-driven winch was replaced. Additional details include a removable hardtop with a white roof along with dual side mirrors and a spare wheel affixed to a swing-out rear carrier. The 15″ steel wheels have been powder-coated gray, and they wear replacement polished hubcaps and BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 tires. The truck is equipped with Warn manually locking front hubs. The knuckle bearings were rebuilt and the shocks and Birfield seals were replaced. The split front bench seat and inward-facing rear jump seats were fitted with replacement foam and gray upholstery, and various interior surfaces and hardware were refinished and re-plated. The headliner, sun visors, rearview mirror, lap belts, and dash pad were replaced. Black mats line the floors, and heaters are fitted in the front and rear passenger areas. The steering wheel frames a 100-mph speedometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, amperage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 285 miles and was reset during the refurbishment. Total mileage is unknown. The 3.9-liter F inline-six was rebuilt in 2018, with work including resurfacing the cylinder head, boring and honing the block, reconditioning the rods, grinding the crankshaft, and replacing the camshaft, pistons and rings, rod and camshaft bearings, lifters, exhaust valves, valve seats, and timing chain. Power is routed to the rear or all four wheels through a three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case, both of which were serviced during the refurbishment. The clutch assembly and hydraulic cylinders were replaced at that time along with various drivetrain bearings. Photos taken during various stages of the refurbishment are provided in the gallery. A binder of service records and invoices will accompany the truck along with a repair manual, spare parts, and paint cans..
