1995 Chevrolet Caprice Classic 4 Door Sedan Love it or hate it, you can't deny that the new Caprice Classic makes eyeballs pop. Its shape marks a brave departure from the boxy, staid lines of Chevrolet's previously baked in GM's big car mold. No stale air of same old same old around this predator. No, the air almost crackles within Chevrolet's tech center. It's electric with debate: will the latest king size Caprice be found largely capricious, unexpectedly capable, or truly classic? Car and Driver, Aug. 1990 on the release of the new 1991 Caprice Classic For consignment, a 1995 Chevrolet Caprice Classic 4 door sedan with a title verified 69,642 actual miles. According to our consignor, this car has 9C1 upgrades without being a fleet car, (note there is no 9C1 on the SPID decal). Naturally, if features a 5.7 liter LT1 V8 under that long hood. Exterior Two stage Medium Garnet Red graces our can and for a car that had been traditionally square, the '95 is replete with rounded edges, a tall egg shaped cabin, and body colored bumper covers. What remains however is a formidable fascia, a wide grille, flanked here with composite headlights in front of an enormous hood that slopes slightly in front of a raked windshield, likely outperforming its predecessor by bounds in the wind tunnel. Out back, flush oval tail lights also act as the terminus for the large panel of the trunk lid and a fixed rear quarter window extends the tinted greenhouse as silver trim and a pinstripe add more visual interest to the profile. 15-inch lace style wheels carry 235/70R15 tires with a late 2020 date code. The exterior is in excellent condition with imperfections noted only as clear coat issues with the wheels, a common GM issue in the 90's. Interior Burgundy appears in different textures on the door panels where a vinyl coated armrest over a dark red carpeted are handsomely augmented by simulated woodgrain trim on the switchgear panels, and all four doors are in very nice condition. The classic split bench in dark red leather shows some slight patina and compression on the driver's side but in great shape everywhere else, including the massive back bench. The color keyed steering wheel fronts a more compact instrument cluster than in early iterations with a central digital screen flanked by idiot lights and square gauges. To the right, a Delco AM/FM/Cassette radio is over a simple A/C panel all in a woodgrain frame. Plush burgundy carpet below is in excellent condition and the padded velour headliner above also lacks notable damage or age. Golfing or going on a long trip? The gargantuan trunk will accommodate and do so dressed in gray flannel panels that finish the space cleanly, housing a cargo net and covered spare. Drivetrain A an open air filter provides fresh air to the clean 5.7 liter LT1 V8, pumping out a healthy 260 horsepower and utilizing fuel injection to received gasoline. It's mated to a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the 10 bolt rear with 2.93 gears and Positraction, so two wheel burnouts are a thing. Undercarriage Driver quality conditions prevail underneath with a substantial coating of surface rust throughout but just a few drops of oil on the pan. The rest is free of dirt and grease. Our dual exhaust system still flows through original equipment mufflers and resonators and exits discretely behind the rear bumper. Power disc brakes stop the left wheels while power drums back up the rear. Suspension is standard with coil springs all around and a 4 link in back. Drive-Ability Roomy would be understating the expanse of the interior which provides ample room for front and rear occupants. The LT1 comes to life without hesitation and the car rolls around our loop like the highway cruiser it is with adequate power, a road smoothing ride, and lots of comfort and visibility. This pampered passenger car checks all the boxes for functionality and we return it to the mall to get some real e
