Seller's Notes

1956 Chevrolet 210 4 Door Hardtop Long before they became legendary, Chevrolet Tri Fives went through some subtle changes year to year. In 1956, the 210 was slightly longer than the 1955, a full width front bumper was standard, the fuel cap would be hidden behind the tail lamp, (a daring design that would become iconic), and trim and tail light design were slightly changed. That didn't deter production and with all body styles included, nearly a million 210's were produced in 1956. For consignment, a 1956 Chevrolet 210 4 door hardtop with a title verified 95,757 actual miles. The '56 brochure touted, Notice how the rear doors are hinged to sturdy body members. That's the key to sport sedan design, giving you virtually unobstructed vision all around. Exterior Using original GM colors, two stage Twilight Turquoise was applied under India Ivory for a classic configuration that we never get tired of seeing. The white coves are sandwiched by the turquoise roof and the integrated C-pillars. So attractive is this design that we hope whoever originally penned this layout back in the 50's was fittingly compensated. Big chrome bumpers, a substantial glossy grille and its framing, and window trim are complemented here by the 15-inch wheels with dynamic covers within the turquoise steel ring, all framed in wide white walls. The tail light nacelles are wonderfully ornate and in great shape housing relatively small lights for such a big car and the eagle headed jet plane hood ornament heads up a car that has excellent paint and brightwork, but is not without some imperfections that include various areas of bubbling. Interior Each of the four doors is paneled in three materials in various shades of turquoise with black knobbed window cranks, and all are in fantastic condition with some blemishes noted on the left rear's lower panel. The colors translate well to the vinyl and cloth bench seats which have charcoal inserts geometrically accentuated by an ornamental button and presenting nicely. Our first bit of contrasting color comes in the form of a wrapped black plastic steering wheel with a delicate chrome horn ring in full circle. Up ahead, black and white alternate to form the dashboard with the fan shaped instrument cluster on one side and fan shaped speaker on the other, tied to the AM radio onboard. Smooth, turquoise floor covers are a perfect match, protected by vintage clear plastic mats and the perforated headliner is also in nice shape and you guessed it, turquoise. A fitted rubber mat protects the trunk floor and a spare tire is present. Drivetrain Absolutely show worthy with the hood up, we see the 235.5ci inline six, putting out 140 horsepower and fueled via a 1-barrel carburetor. It's backed by a Powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission and 3.36 gears reside in the rear axle. Undercarriage Would call this driver quality underneath with a nice blue body over the frame and components with minimal surface rust and only residual oil on the pans and some sling off the rear U-joint. Dual exhaust runs through a glasspack style muffler before exiting via chrome tips and drum brakes are supplied to all four wheels. Suspension includes coil springs up front and leaf springs out back. Drive-Ability Drop all the windows and it's almost an open air experience in this post free car. Meanwhile, lots of elbow room on the inside, and a quick starting six cylinder, and we're off in flying colors, but mostly Turquoise. She runs smooth, tracks straight, and stops on command. The radio is not hooked up, per our consignor but all other functions operate as they should on this two tone beauty. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Are Tri-Fives the most classic of classics? Some would argue absolutely. They were incredibly well received back in the day and still sought a
