1969 Pontiac GTO Ram Air III — 31K Believed Original Miles — Numbers Matching — Local, 3-Owner Car

An exceptional example of Pontiac’s muscle car legend, this 1969 GTO Ram Air III is a true numbers-matching survivor showing 31,135 believed original miles. Finished in its original Burgundy lacquer over black interior, this Fremont-built GTO has spent its life in Oregon, remaining in the hands of just three local owners since new.

Originally sold new at Eccles Motor Co. in Klamath Falls, Oregon, this GTO retains its original drivetrain, consisting of the YZ-coded 400 cubic-inch Ram Air III V8 (366 horsepower) mated to its VIN-matching PQ-code Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 automatic transmission and the proper 8.2-inch Safe-T-Track rear end.

The engine has been carefully freshened, not rebuilt, due to the remarkable condition of the internals, showing less than .001" of bore wear. Correct factory parts were reused wherever possible, including the original 068 camshaft, rebuilt distributor (with Pertronix module), and ceramic-coated original Ram Air exhaust manifolds. Proper “tower” clamps, GM hoses, and date-coded spark plug wires were installed for authenticity.

The original sheet metal was soda-blasted to bare metal and refinished in its factory color using lacquer paint. All panels fit beautifully, and the car retains its original black interior, with only the front seat covers and carpet replaced. Even the headliner was re-sewn to factory specs. The cabin looks, feels, and even smells like 1969.

Underneath, the frame, suspension, control arms, axle housing, and driveshaft have all been restored, rebuilt, and refinished. The car rides on correct JA-coded Rally II wheels with new B.F. Goodrich tires. The braking system, steering, and electrical components (alternator, voltage regulator, wiper motor, horn relay) are all date-coded, rebuilt originals.
