When fully charged, the IONIQ Plug-In Hybrid can drive up to 29 miles on all-electric power. After that, it operates like a regular hybrid and achieves 52 mpg in combined driving.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2021 Hyundai IONIQ the highest rating of Good in all six crash tests. The IIHS uses a different scale for grading collision avoidance features. The IONIQ earned the highest rating of Superior for its optional vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system.
