Seller's Notes

*$24,995* Cruisin Classics is pleased to present to you this 1948 Plymouth Special Deluxe Coupe. Are you looking for a cool-looking Mopar streetrod that won't break the bank? Check this one out! This classic Plymouth has slick paint, a nicely redone interior, and an all-Mopar engine and drivetrain - it's ready to hit the road today. This car comes to us dressed in a high-quality coat of maroon paint accented with tasteful white, grey, and red pinstriping. The view from the front includes a split windshield, a curved hood with chrome center-spine and hood ornament, an elaborate Plymouth badge, a horizontal bar grille flanked by round headlights in bright bezels, and a chrome front bumper. The grille bars have no pitting, but they do look a little hazy from age, and the bumper has a small imperfection where a stone must have chipped the chrome. As you look down the sides, you'll see that all body side molding has been removed along with the door handles, giving the car a smooth, sleek look. There are no poppers for the doors, as a set of power window switches is hidden in the trunk for easy access. Pinstriping follows the upper body line with an accent section toward the rear. Tinted windows and dual body-color Talbot-style side mirrors add to the look. The car has a great stance atop a set of chrome 5-spoke Cragers wrapped in staggered General Altimax RT tires (185 65 R15 - front, 235 70 R15 - rear). Around back, you'll find a burst of pinstriping above the trunk handle, chrome-trimmed taillights, a working power antenna, chrome Megs exhaust tips, and a third brake light just below the rear window. You may notice that there is no external gas fill door, because the gas fill has been relocated inside the trunk. Lift the hood to find that the original Plymouth straight six has been replaced with a Chrysler 318ci V-8 that offers quite a bit more horsepower than its predecessor. The black block is topped off with polished aluminum valve covers, an Edelbrock Torker 340 intake, a Quadrajet carburetor, and a chrome air cleaner. Other highlights include a chrome alternator, power steering, a newer wiring harness, and what appears to be an original radiator. Exhaust flows from cast manifolds through glass-pack style mufflers and exits the tips in the rear with a nice rumble. The Mopar V-8 is mated to a Chrysler 904 3-speed automatic Torqueflite transmission that sends power to the rear wheels via a Chrysler rear axle. Stopping power comes courtesy of power front discs and rear drums. Handling has been upgraded as well, thanks to what the most recent owner tells us is a Cordoba sub-frame. When you open the driver's door, you're greeted by an attractive 2-tone grey cloth interior in good condition. The door panels are done in light and dark grey fabric with an armrest and door handle. Nice grey carpet welcomes you inside for a seat in one of the comfortable front buckets. Both the front buckets and rear bench are covered in the same grey fabric as the door panels. Back on the rear package tray, two 6X9 speakers have been added to enjoy some cruisin' tunes. The headliner is done in the darker grey fabric, and it's in good condition. Positioned on the floor to the driver's right is a shifter for the automatic transmission. Ahead of the driver is a 3-spoke wood Grant GT steering wheel with a working horn on a tilt column. The steering wheel fronts an original-style dash with some minor changes and add-ons. The brightwork on the dash exhibits pitting and fading, and many of the original components no longer work - among those are the radio, speaker, clock, wipers, heater, and fan. A Jegs fuel gauge has been added to the gauge cluster area, and two small speakers have been integrated into the far sides of the dash. The in-dash oil gauge works, and so does the 100mph speedometer. The odometer reads 32,784, but the title claims non-actual mileage. Mounted under the dash is an SW temp gauge for keeping a closer eye on things. In th
