2005 Ford Mustang GT Coupe Of the 2005 Mustang's myriad upgrades, none is more significant than its new foundation. The Mustang now rides on a heavily modified version of the Lincoln LS and Jag S-type platform. Unlike those luxo-cruisers, America's favorite pony car retains its blue collar solid rear axle. But now it's a three link coil spring layout, abetted by a tubular Panhard rod. Car and Driver review, December 2004 For consignment, a 2005 Ford Mustang GT coupe with a title verified 25,276 actual miles. Here's a car that's 20 years old just a tick over 1,000 miles per year, in solid black, and sheltering some tasteful modifications in the intake, suspension, and brake departments. Exterior With very little exception, the entire car is bathed in an inky, two stage black paint with seamless bumper covers, a rear wing, and quarter window covers all adopting the flow of black. That darkness makes the red tail light explode off the rear fascia with translucent clarity and the front orange markers standing out, along with the headlights, inboard fog lights, and floating horse on the black grille. Nice wheels add so much to a car and that's the case here with 18-inch Bullitt wheels in argent gray, wrapped in staggered size tires with a late 2019 date code, and showing off red brake calipers through the spokes. Imperfections on this low mileage example include some scuffs on the chin and some light staining on the wheels. Interior Standard black plastic door panels contain a perforated leather insert that is known in this generation to come loose, even on low mileage cars, and this is what we have on both sides on otherwise clean door panels. Black buckets seats occupy the front with some very slight wear and compression on the driver's side and good condition is found on the passenger and rear 2+2 seats. A three spoke steering wheel fronts a two gauge instrument cluster with condition needles grouped together in the middle. Black plastic alternates with the aluminum panel on the dash for an attractive look, and the center stack houses a touch screen for camera, AM/FM/CD functions, and other information, over the A/C dials. In the console, we have a black topped shifter in a leather boot, ahead of requisite cupholders over black carpet and all are in very nice condition. A foam backed headliner also presents nicely and the trunk is finished with gray mats and houses the Shaker speakers. Drivetrain A bright red Roush strut tower brace highlights the engine bay where we find a clean 4.6 liter 3 valve V8, now wearing an AirRaid cold air intake. With its fuel injection, the engine is rated at 300 horsepower and is mated to a Tremec TR3550 5-speed manual transmission that routes power to the Ford 8 in back with 3.55 gears and TracLoc.  Undercarriage Although general driver quality in appearance, the underside is also where we find some subtle and tasteful mods, such as Ford Racing front struts and an adjustable panhard bar in back with a 3 link and coil springs working together. The power disc brakes on all four wheels have D&S rotors and calipers as well as stainless brake hoses. Dual exhaust flows through stainless steel mufflers and tips. Drive-Ability Three hundred horses is nothing to sneeze at and this pony sounds great putting out some power and providing a smooth ride with respectable acceleration, straight tracking, and braking on demand. It may be 20 years old, but feels fresh and is a comfortable ride that will be your trusted steed on long, or short trips. And to enhance your trip, all functions on board operate as expected. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. A nice, straight, black Mustang with some hidden mods that enhance handling, braking, and stiffness. Low miles, a joy stick in the middle, cool wheels, and fully operational conditi
