2004 Chrysler Crossfire Coupe The Chrysler Crossfire is a rear wheel drive, two seat sports car that was sold by Chrysler and built by Karmann of Germany for the 2004 to 2008 model years. Developed during the union of Daimler and Chrysler, the two seater is based on the Mercedes-Benz R170 platform which shares 80% of its components with the first generation SLK. For consignment, a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire coupe with a title verified 23,756 actual miles. In 2004, only coupes were available and over 20,000 were produced. The following year, the convertible was introduced and outnumbered the number of coupes sold to the public. Exterior Reminiscent of the SLK, this ribbed hood long front end teardrop edged headlights car even has the side vents on the front quarters with horizontal chromed trim. Bathed in Graphite Metallic, the two stage paint is augmented by a dark rocker panel and orange stripes under the dogleg which not only looks sporty but picks up on the front side marker light. A ribbed grille sweeps back over an integrated rounded bumper that creates a smooth nose. The strakes on the side gills match the windshield frame while out back, flush tail lights hug the back of the fenders as the center flows downward extended from the sides, terminating with twin, center exit and square exhaust tips. 18-inch seven spoke wheels wear 40 series tires and fill the wheel openings with a modern profile. Imperfections are limited to chin scuffs and one spot of minor curb rash. Overall, paint and trim are excellent on the Crossfire. Interior An uncommon interior spec is found with Cedar and Gray on the inside, Chrysler's name for a dark red that begins as an insert on the simple design of the door panels, along with brushed metal pulls and both present cleanly. Impressive and dramatic two tone high back leather buckets occupy the cabin, separated by a center console that also takes on the Cedar color while the switchgear and shifter are based in aluminum colored plastic panels, taking in the matching shifter and then the AM/FM/CD radio and climate panel in the center stack. The contrast continues as a black dash cover meets the red, and the driver is presented with a red steering wheel. It leads to the black instrument cluster, sporty and simple. Back to black we go for the carpet while an ivory headliner brightens up a colorful and vibrant interior. The trunk is finished in black panels and like the rest of the interior, is in near showroom condition. Drivetrain Within the original clean factory engine bay sits a 3.2 liter fuel injected V6 producing 215hp. Behind it is a Chrysler NSG370 6-speed manual transmission routing power to the rear axle with 3.27 gears. Like the Mercedes cousin, the engine is dominated by a plastic shroud which helps keep things clean. Undercarriage Clean underneath with some road spray and minimal surface rust. Dual exhaust snakes its way rearward to the central dual exit after leaving the original single muffler. Independent coil spring suspension is on front, and a 5 link coil spring suspension on the back and power disc brakes are reserved for all 4 corners. No runs, drips or errors under here! Drive-Ability As expected it fired right up, and on the test track performed without a hitch. Smooth powerful acceleration, good handling, and a smooth shifter. It is nimble, quick, and comfortable without feeling small. Plus all functions on this low mileage example work as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Unique stripes on the outside and a clean, dramatic interior that includes a fun stick in the middle and three pedals. What more could you ask for in a Mercedes dressed as a Chrysler? These still represent an incredibly good buy for the quality of the car and more often than not, find a new home when residing at Classi
