Seller's Notes

This 1966 Chevrolet Impala SS Convertible is a beautifully restored, real deal SS with great options and a fantastic look! When the Impala debuted in 1958 as the Bel Air's top trim level, or even when it was spun off as its own model in 1959, few at the GM marque could have guessed what a success the Impala nameplate would become in the years that followed. As the years progressed and the Impala's silhouette shifted on a virtually yearly basis (especially early on), the Impala underwent a complete redesign in 1965 with many of its design features carried forward in the following years. The new-look Chevys were bigger than previous models but the Impala still retained its top-of-the-line status for Chevrolet. In 1966, the overall look remained the same with modest design improvements. At the nose, the front fenders were raked forward and the dual headlight assembly was now trimmed with bright anodized bezels placed alongside the matching anodized grille. At the tail end, round triple taillights that were found on Impalas since nearly every year since the car's inception were replaced with a more modern-looking rectangular assembly. Of course, the plushest and sportiest Impala was the Impala Super Sport (SS). The Impala SS's were visually distinctive from the exterior due to the additional trim found around the outside of the car, including front fender nameplates, a special SS grille, and special SS badging on the trunk. The interiors were also specially badged with Super Sport nomenclature and options including items such as bucket seats, center consoles, and special SS badging on the dash. This particular '66 Impala Super Sport Convertible comes to us after undergoing an extensive restoration and it even comes with the original Protect-O-Plate. Powering this '66 Impala SS is believed to be a 327 cubic inch V8 that breathes through a single 4 barrel carburetor. The small block Chevy is backed by a Powerglide Automatic transmission that makes this classic Chevrolet an easy car for anybody to enjoy. Exhaust exits this Super Sport's SBC powerplant via a dual exhaust setup that generates a terrific throaty sound out of the rear tailpipes. This 1966 Impala SS comes with great options! With power steering, maneuvering this gentleman's muscle car in and out of tight parking spots at the local car show or drive-in is almost effortless and the overall driving experience is much more enjoyable. Further aiding with parking efforts and lane changes are dual chrome outside mirrors that greatly improve visibility down the sides of this Super Sport Impala Convertible. Power brakes are another welcome addition since they make bringing this nearly 5,000 pound Chevrolet much easier to bring to a complete stop. The black vinyl power convertible top is equipped with a glass back window and it is raised and lowered with ease, all with the simple flick of a switch. Additionally, when the top is lowered, it tucks neatly below a brand new black convertible top boot cover. Riding on a set of Redline Radial tires mounted on classic Rally wheels with Chevy center caps, this 1966 Impala SS Convertible has a great look and even better ride. The exterior of this '66 Impala SS has been refinished in beautiful Regal Red paint that completes the eye-catching look of this wonderful '60s classic. The interior of this 1966 Chevrolet Impala SS Convertible is gorgeous! The front bucket seats and rear bench seat have been correctly restored with black upholstery. The black carpeting and brand new matching floor mats, door panels, seat belts, center console, padded dash, and steering wheel all appear to be in great shape while retaining a nice stock look. Instrumentation includes a 120 MPH Speedometer, fuel gauge, and clock, as well as indicator lights for engine temperature, oil pressure, and generator function. The dash is finished off with various other vehicle controls, a locking glovebox, and a push-button AM radio. Whether you're loo
