Seller's Notes

2000 Pontiac Firebird Coupe As chief engineer at Pontiac, and then when he became general manager of the division in 1965, John Z. DeLorean aggressively lobbied senior management at General Motors to approve a two-seat sports car called the Banshee. The two seater never did get the green light, but ultimately, GM car and truck boss Ed Cole offered DeLorean a compromise: a Pontiac version of the F-body Chevrolet Camaro, then scheduled for a fall 1966 introduction.  Macsmotorcitygarage.com For consignment, a 2000 Pontiac Firebird coupe with a title verified 94,990 actual miles. For those who were looking for a sporty ride without the flash and visual volume of a Trans Am, the Firebird was the perfect antidote. Plus, insurance rates were probably more manageable meaning you could eat your cake and have it too!    Exterior A slightly less aggressive but still sporty fascia fronts the Firebird, here with a mask made up of carbon fiber textured headlight covers and black ornamental plate in front with an embossed Firebird. There's a pair of integrated intake ducts and four lensed down below for fog and LED marker lights on this Bright Red car. Meanwhile, a pair of extractor vents, gills if you like, on the fenders wear the Firebird's hallmark octagon shaped mesh and from there, the profile is mostly shared with the Trans Am, including the smooth, flat rear wing that hugs the sloping window before spreading surface area to take on the wind. Our octagons return to darken the flush tail lights and dual exhaust fill the sculpted valance. 16-inch wheels carry 215/60R16's all around with an early 2023 date code.  Imperfections are limited to the typical chin scrapes and some curb rash. Interior The Ebony interior begins on the door panels made of plastic and cloth inserts, now featuring red grilles for the speakers and the driver's side showing some patina in contrast to the passenger's door which presents cleanly. Cloth bucket seats up front are in good condition and the 2+2 in back are deep and clean. Basic black covers the steering wheel and simple instrument cluster ahead, offering pertinent information with orange needle indicators. A Jensen AM/FM/CD player has been added over the plastic knobs of the A/C panel, leading to the center console that houses a T-handle shifter, cupholders, and the armrest lid of a storage bin. Charcoal carpet is of the low pile variety, protected by carpeted mats, while the headliner around the T-tops is soft and gray and in good shape. The cargo area now holds a large speaker and has the built in T-top holder for those times when you want to go full Smokey and the Bandit! The speaker grilles here, too, have been accented with red paint.  Drivetrain Under the hood, a driver quality but overall clean 3.8 liter V6, tucked into the firewall, fuel injected, and mated to a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission routing power to the 10 bolt axle fitted with 3.08 gears.  Undercarriage We get her up on the lift and note typical surface rust and patina and also dry conditions other than some residual oil on the rear differential. Power disc brakes are supplied front and rear, and the single exhaust runs to the original muffler which lets out two exhaust pipes that terminate with oval tips. Suspension consists of coil springs up front and coil springs with a torque arm in back.  Drive-Ability V6 or V8, it's still an F-body and the F stands for fun no matter how you slice it. A race-like sitting position and long hood ahead, like Pontiac, builds excitement, and we crank the V6 to life. Once on the test loop, this bird glides smoothly over the asphalt offering decent acceleration and outstanding handling. The T-tops have been darkened to keep in cool inside but visibility remains good all around and all functions on board operated as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be wo
