This cool classic 1966 Chevrolet El Camino presents itself well. The white paint still has its shine and looks sharp with the racing stripes. The aftermarket rims add character while keeping the stance correct for the age of the car. All the badges are in the correct places, and there is a spray-on bed liner in the back. In the rear, under the bumper, is a bolted-in tow hitch assembly, and to the left and right are chrome tailpipes that stick out just the right amount. The interior is blue with a secondary color of gray. Two gray bucket seats come from a more modern vehicle and are in decent shape. On the floor in the center, in front of the seats is a floor-mounted Winter Performance Sidewinder shifter. A custom steering wheel is installed along with a Sun Tach tachometer on the steering column. The dashboard gauges are original, but there is a tri-pod set of gauges bolted underneath to keep a better eye on the engine's performance. An older-style aftermarket SANYO radio is mounted in the dashboard with AM/FM/Cassette. Below that is the temperature control cluster, and rounding out the interior is a spare tire behind the passenger seat. Under the hood sits a 350 Tune Port Injection V8 mated to a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission, which connects to a 12-bolt rear axle. The front suspension is equipped with A-arms and coil-overs, and the rear suspension handles business with coil springs, shocks, and a set of traction bars. For slowing things down, the El Camino is equipped with power front disc brakes and rear power drum brakes. Fifteen-inch American Racing wheels sit at all four corners. For rubber, the front uses 225/70R15 Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires, while the rear is fitted with 275/60R15 BFG Radial T/A tires. For a nice old-school rumble, the Chevy is equipped with stock-style manifolds, dual exhaust, and chambered mufflers. This 1966 Chevrolet El Camino is a perfect example of a true classic. The stance is stock, the wheels are old-school, and it has a lot of character from many years of not being a trailer queen, but instead being out on the road, giving people the freedom they so truly deserve.
