Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is excited to present this 2002 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GTR, 1 of a claimed 25 C5 models modified by Specter Werkes/Sports of Troy, Michigan. This GTR was originally built with a Katech-developed C5-R 427CID V8 and later underwent a complete engine rebuild by Katech in June 2020. The engine features Jesel rocker arms, Manley exhaust valves, Johnson tie-bar lifters, a DeWitts dual fan kit, and an external oil cooler, paired with a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. A custom dual exhaust system with long-tube headers completes the performance package, designed for track-ready power delivery. Finished in white with red and blue racing stripes and a black tail panel, the fixed-roof coupe wears projector-style fixed headlights, a vented cowl-induction hood, a detachable front splitter, enlarged front fender vents, rocker panel extensions, and a rear wing. The widebody kit adds approximately 3 inches up front and 6 inches out back, giving the car an aggressive and purposeful stance. Silver 19-inch Forgeline GS1R wheels are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires measuring 285/30 up front and 325/30 out back. Braking performance is provided by AP Racing Pro 5000 R calipers over Essex two-piece slotted rotors at all four corners, while the chassis incorporates 4-way adjustable Feal coilovers with Swift springs, Pfadt Race Engineering adjustable anti-sway bars, revised control arm bushings, SPL tie-rod ends, and SKF wheel bearings. Inside, the cabin features high-back bucket seats with Z06 and GTR embroidery trimmed in black leather, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, a head-up display, and a Bose sound system with an in-dash CD player. The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 200-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level. This 2002 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GTR is a fully built track-capable car that combines rare factory-approved performance enhancements with extensive Specter Werkes upgrades. This car represents a rare and highly collectible example of American performance engineering.
