Seller's Notes

1958 Ford F100 Fleetside Pickup Today, there's a new word for modern in pickup truck design. It's Fordward! That's the way you'll go in new Ford trucks. Go Fordward with saving with one of thirteen different Ford pickups to choose from. See them now at your Ford dealer. You'll see the difference, you'll save the difference, when you go Fordward in the new Ford Trucks. From a period television commercial.      For consignment, a 1958 Ford F100 Fleetside pickup truck showing 1,744 miles, but the true miles are unknown. The third generation F100 lasted from 1957 to 1960 and in 1958, Ford introduced quad headlights to replace the duals, making this the only generation that utilized quad headlights! Exterior Some thought went into this color scheme and it makes a dramatic appearance on this vintage truck with yellow accented by gray in the grille, on the hood, over the cab, and on the tailgate. A straight chrome bumper in front replaces what would have been a wrap-around piece, and the rear has been removed which allows the twin chrome exhaust tips to be fully visible with a center exit. While back here, we can't help but appreciate the most simple tail lights you may ever find, two red discs at the end of each corner. Back up front, the grille is augmented with symmetrical holes in the body and the gap between it and hood, all for extra air flow, while stiffening body bends run parallel on the hood. 15-inch chrome steel wheels wear staggered size tires to keep with the street rod theme. Imperfections include areas of bubbling on lower panels, evident filler, and cracking paint.  Interior The body may have been dipped in yellow because it covers most metal inside as well, and the inner doors have a black door card to dress them up. Inside, black leather race style bucket seats occupy the left and right spot with a matching console between them. A wood rimmed Grant steering wheel presents to the driver and a simple gauge cluster includes modern AutoMeter white gauges on a flat black faceplate while glossy yellow paint covers the rest of the dash. On the floor, a Hurst shifter rises up cleanly over black carpet and F100 mats and we note three pedals down here. Up top, a missing headliner and rough paint are open for your interpretation and personal touch. The bed is painted and in this case, a flat black and appears show ready.  Drivetrain The meat on the bone here is a nicely presented 327ci V8, rated at 275 horsepower. It is graced by an Edelbrock intake topped by a Holley 4-barrel carburetor and mated to a Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission sending power to the Ford 8 in back. Edelbrock finned valve covers and other polished parts dress up the bay while headers begin the exhaust process. The truck runs on a 12 volt system with an Optima battery currently in the bay. Undercarriage Relatively clean, dry and simple with the usual patina, we've got no complaints here.  The dual exhaust flows through glasspack style mufflers and then to those big chrome tips. Drum brakes are on all four wheels and leaf spring suspension is found front and rear.  Drive-Ability If you need a hug, have a seat in this truck, because the chairs will do the trick! The Chevy V8 starts up after some pumps of the gas and the sound makes this marriage of Chevy and Ford an audible success. We roll this steel truck onto the loop where it provides good power, straight tracking, and surefooted handling at moderate speeds. We note the wiper transmission a bit loose, and the horn and tachometer are not working. All other functions on board operate as they should and we whisk this sun colored beauty back to the mall. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Although it's likely over 100,000 were produced, we rarely see third gen F100's come up for sale. They were used as work trucks and put
