Seller's Notes

1950 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe 2 Door Sedan There's never been a Chevrolet like this. Never a Chevrolet so smartly styled, so advanced in comfort, safety, and performance with economy. It's far and away the finest Chevrolet ever built, the most beautiful buy of all new cars. Two distinctive new body styles in Fleetline and Styleline with 14 grand new models including the DeLuxe and Special. From the Chevy sales brochure. For consignment, a 1950 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe two door sedan showing 102,550 actual miles. There was an astounding array of options in 1950 and Chevy boasted colors that were new and more sparkling. This was long before the days of the candy colors we have today, and anything other than black or gray was considered colorful. Exterior Various shades of green were offered in 1950 and this one enjoys a coat of modern two stage Steel Green Metallic and it looks fantastic, especially when combined with the Pearl White top, stainless trim that includes the midline spear, the gravel guard, base trim that encircles the cabin, and bold rocker trim. The grille combines big chrome that would define the 50's and some ornate trim, a vestige of the 40's, and here the gaps are filled with wide, slanted slats, inboard marker lights, and tooth like bumper guards. A hood ornament and trim around the gas door and trunk latch add a luxurious touch to what was a conventional passenger car, and the 15-inch American Racing Torque Thrust wheels, staggered size tires, and dual exhaust add a sportiness they could not have imagined on a car like this in 1950. The paint is deep and glossy and the only imperfections we note are some bubbles, a crack, and evidence of some bondo, all pretty low on the body. Interior Gray cloth covers the door panels with some silver trim and a dark gray kick panel, all in decent shape. More modern gray cloth bucket seats present a profile that is both luxurious and supportive at the same time and the material is mirrored in the rear 2+2 seating and all are clean. A wood rimmed steering wheel fronts a bicolored dash, green over gray, and a single modernized gauge in the middle relaying six bits of pertinent information. To the right, we go old school with the ivory buttons of the AM radio, the jukebox-like presentation of the speaker, and a fancy square clock to the right. A familiar GM shifter plate houses the stylish modern stick, all based in a gray vinyl center console complete with cupholders, armrest, and storage. Black loop carpet is protected by rubber mats, a clean tan headliner is up above, and the trunk is lined with a cut to fit corduroy like cloth mat and houses a spare. Drivetrain A fantastically clean engine bay is home to a 327ci V8 from the mid-60's, topped by a QuickFuel 4-barrel carburetor and backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic. A 3.36 geared axle puts the power to the ground and power brakes are supplied with discs in front and drums in the rear. The car has A/C and now runs on a 12 volt system. Undercarriage Clean underneath with minimal surface rust and just a film of oil on the pans. Dual exhaust runs from the headers through glasspack style mufflers, then out the back via chrome tips. Suspension consists of coil springs in front and leaf springs in back. Power steering is on board and the car has new shocks and a new gas tank. Drive-Ability The bucket seats are a welcome change from what was likely a bench seat and an armrest is a cruising essential. The 327 fires up with an impressive exhaust note and we roll this big Chevy onto the tarmac where it provides excellent power, straight tracking, decent handling, and hallelujah, air conditioning! We note the clock and radio are not working, but all other functions afforded this jolly green giant operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
