The 1961 Lincoln Continental won “Car Lifes” Engineering Excellence Award. The Continental would also be Lincolns only model in the lineup. It was consolidated to one model so designers and marketers could make it the best it could possibly be and put numbers on the sales board following a $60 Million loss on the third generation (1958 and 1959) cars development. That is $637,727,784 in today’s money! The fourth generation cars would be designed by VP of the time, Elwood Engel. He was actually working on the T-Bird design when the execs found his designs to be more in align with what they were looking for in the “new” Continental. This fabulous car comes to us out of long-term ownership with excellent care and stewardship. This model is in excellent driver quality condition. The interior is stunning, the trunk area is largely original free of any corrosion, the underside is also free of major corrosion with some surface rust as you can expect. The engine bay is unmolested, all there and in good condition. This Continental fires right up, idles smoothly, shifts nicely and goes down the road like a dream. These suicide door Lincolns are highly popular and when you get a good one, you get excited. I would not let this car pass you by if you are in the market. We welcome any questions and inspections here in our Traverse City location. We look forward to speaking with you!
