Seller's Notes

1941 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Just as outstanding in their price fields as the sensational Sixty-One, are the five other series of cars which Cadillac presents for 1941. These include two entirely new creations, the ultra smart Cadillac Sixty-Three and the sumptuous Cadillac Sixty-Seven. There are also completely redesigned and repowered versions of the style setting Cadillac Sixty-Two, and the dynamic Cadillac Fleetwood-Sixty special and the regal Cadillac Fleetwood Seventy-Five. From a 1941 print ad, and that's a lot of Cadillacs! For consignment, a 1941 Cadillac Series 62 convertible showing 30,238 miles, but the true miles are unknown. In '41, the top and the boot in which it is concealed, were offered in three colors and the operation of the roof was vacuum actuated. Exterior Stately and elegant might be overused, but they are words that are warranted here as long and bulbous panels adorned with ornamental trim and ornate features jacket this fine automobile. Here's a color that probably would not look great on modern cars, but Cream is fitting for this luxury cruiser and the acres of paint are interrupted by horizontal strakes on the fenders, a black gravel guard on the rear, Cadillac crests on the fender skirts, and long hood vents. The tail light nacelles produce small fins capped by a marker light while the front grille fits snugly between the fenders. Both the rear bumper and rocker trim are decorated with grooves while the Flying Goddess points the way with attitude. The 15-inch red wheels provide contrast accentuated by the white walls and proper wheel covers. A few scuffs on the bumper and a few chips on the lower edge are the only imperfections we find. Interior Red surrounds the beige door panels which have a ribbed lower plate that brings out the metal hardware that includes a crank for the vent window and both doors present well. The well padded leather split bench is also bordered with red and shows its share of patina in the form of creasing and mild discoloration while the solid red rear bench is in fine condition. A bakelite steering wheel with robust horn ring is offered to the driver ahead of a simple and elegant simulated wood dash board with lots of polished metal and art deco influence. Plush red carpet below is fully intact and the trunk is finished with gray cloth. Drivetrain Here we have a fantastically clean 346ci L-head V8, rated at 150 horsepower and fueled via a 2-barrel carburetor. It is mated to a 3-speed manual transmission that routes power to the rear axle with 3.36 gears. Undercarriage Uniformly black and generally clean, we note minimal surface rust and a bit of corrosion near a motor mount on the blue painted block. Drum brakes occupy all four corners and the single exhaust flows through a stock style muffler. Suspension on this big car consists of coil springs up front and leaf springs in the back. Drive-Ability The L-head comes to life with a pump of the gas and we quietly coast onto the test loop where the car performs well, tracking straight and cushioning the slightest bumps in the road. Visibility takes a minute to get used to as our black canvas top has a small rear window and wide C-pillar, but once we're rolling, it's like riding a bike. Meanwhile, we note the radio, clock, and heater blower are not working, but all other functions on this sweet American are all up to par. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Talk about presence. Talk about eye candy. Talk about elegance. This is from the days when Cadillac was king and who wouldn't want to be seen in this spectacular ragtop? This will be an excellent addition to any collection, or a great first car to start one!
