This 1966 Austin Healey 3000 Mk3 has a 2.9L 6-cylinder engine and a four-speed manual transmission. Quoted from an appraisal produced by the Dearborn Automobile Company, Inc. some time ago, it does not have a date but states as follows:\"This is a magnificent example of the late-series \"Big Healey\", the BJ*. By 1966, Austin Healeys had evolved into roomy, reliable, and nearly comfortable touring sportscars. The torquey 3-liter six had the mellow tone of the pricier XKE, but many purists preferred the Healey over the Jag for its classic styling and tighter handling. This car was restored for the Chairman of British Leyland's Canadian importer, who, after a career of helping develop the Healey's market in North America, had his own ideas about improvements. If there had been a BJ9, this might have been it!In addition to a thorough body-off-the-frame restoration and mechanical overhaul, he had the Healey fitted with competition seats as found in the works cars at Sebring, and the whole interior trimmed in the same Connolly leather, with matching wool Wilton carpet and burled walnut wood. The top is Stayfast fabric. Other enhancements include power window, cruise control, luggage rack, chrome wire wheels with 185/70x15 tires, backup lights, Stebro exhaust, and slightly uprated engine. The window lifts and cruise control switchgear are cleverly concealed. The engine bay is detailed. Overdrive transmission.\" This letter of appraisal is dated, 9/10/1996.You can see from the photos this beauty was once abandoned and needs to be adopted and loved again. Someone looking for a classic, rare vehicle that likes challenges, could bring this car back to its former beauty and power. It's difficult to say what works and what doesn't on this vehicle since it is in bad need of someone to love it. Right now, as the vehicle stands it has the following: Stereo system which works. A heater which may or may not work. The power windows work, wipers which work, door locks which work. It has a spare tire, car jack and tools. The tires are in fair condition and have a manufacturer's date of 2602. The rims are in good condition with no major scratches. The exterior paint is in fair condition with scratches throughout and a few very small dings. The convertible top works and there are no tears in it and is in good condition. This car runs but needs some tender, loving care. The brakes and clutch need to be bled, and leaks need repair. Carburetor needs some adjusting and it needs some fresh gasoline. It originally had 1540 hp. We have all wiring guides.
