2000 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe By the end of the small block evolutionary trail, Zora Arkus-Duntov had the 1970 RPO LT1 cars delivering 370 of the strongest horses known in any showroom. So, there was the pungent odor of déjà vu when the LS1 engine, descendant of that original small block, became the C5 Corvette's prime mover in 1997. At last Corvette traditionalists have what they want; what they have demanded since the small block Corvette V8 revolution of December, 1955. From the print ad featuring the C5-R and its relation to the street car. For consignment, a 2000 Chevrolet Corvette coupe with a title verified 53,352 actual miles. A Vette for a Vet is a common theme at car shows and this one shares that provenance. Exterior Artic White is as bright as a glacier and spills over every panel of this American sports car. Its wedge shape starts with a pointed front end with hidden headlights over sculpted intakes that house fog lights, flanked by marker lights, and above a pair of intake ducts on the lower fascia. The long slightly inclined hood channels air over the raked windshield and its slightly rounded roofline. Over the years, Corvettes alternate between straight, flat tails and rounded ones, and the C5 is rounded and wide with a symmetrical arrangement of quad tail lights, quad center exit exhaust, and integrated air splitters that are a feast for the eyes, and the typical angle you'll see as it flies by, augmented here by a Corvette branded dress cover. A carbon fiber targa top provides a break from the white but there's a solid white option too while the 17 and 18-inch chrome wheels carry low profile ZR rated tires. Imperfections are minimal and include a touched up chip on the side molding and minor chin scrapes. Interior The interior is as striking as a bright red light but starts with black door panels with controls canted to fit the wrist, all in good shape. The red leather sport bucket seats are in super shape with straight stitched inserts and firm side bolstering with a touch of damage on the driver's side. The thick black steering wheel looks factory fresh, and the standard gauge package is clear and easy to read with no unnecessary extras, just six gauges in a symmetrical pattern that's within the sightline of the driver. The standard AM/FM/CD radio is in the center stack along with the heat and AC controls and everything is housed in molded black plastic. The basic shifter is booted in black leather and is in great condition and the plush red low pile carpet is perfect and protected by matching carpeted mats. The back hatch area houses the extra top and is covered in very nice red carpet. Drivetrain Power comes from a 5.7 liter LS1 V8 rated at 345 horsepower. It is fed copious amounts of air and fuel via electronic fuel injection, and this potent mill is tied to a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission sending power to 3.15 gears with Positraction in back. The engine bay, like the rest of the car, is in very clean condition and the change to white valve covers with red writing matches the exterior configuration and is a nice addition. Undercarriage Very clean conditions underneath with four wheel power disc brakes aon board and a dual exhaust system that include a Corsa cat back. The suspension consists of independent unequal length double wishbones with transverse fiberglass monoleaf springs. To improve handling and weight distribution, Chevrolet put an integrated transaxle in the back, and this can be seen under the car. Drive-Ability No surprises on our short jaunt around the test loop. The car has amazing acceleration, incredible handling, and the cabin is a very nice place to be. This 2000 sounds great and tracks well and this is one we could definitely live with especially as all functions operate as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time o
