Seller's Notes

1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 RS — DZ 302 / 4-Speed

Offered for sale is my 1969 Camaro Z/28 RS, powered by its original DZ-code 302 and backed by the original 4-speed transmission. This is a Van Nuys, California–built factory Z/28 that was purchased from a Canadian collection in 2003, sight unseen.

When purchased from the collection, the car presented exceptionally well. The paint, interior, underbody, transmission, and rear end were all outstanding. The only shortcoming was the engine, which did not perform as it should. In 2007, It was commissioned by Jerry MacNeish to inspect the car and authenticate it as a genuine Z/28—which it is. Following the inspection, The PO engaged Jerry’s company, Camaro Hi-Performance, to restore several critical original components:
Distributor
Holley DZ carburetor
Power brake booster
Intake manifold
Factory Hurst shifter
Valve covers

The quality of this work is exceptional. Notably, the intake manifold, valve covers, and power brake booster were treated so they will never dull, stain from gasoline, or develop the typical chalky aluminum corrosion—ideal for a collector car that is driven sparingly.

Next, the original DZ 302 was rebuilt by Rick Stenhouse, Sr. at DynoTech in Memphis. Rick installed a brand-new GM DZ crankshaft and fully rebuilt the engine, which includes:
.060” overbore
3-angle valve job
Heads cc’d
Engine dyno tested

The engine produced 356 horsepower at 6,700 RPM and 334 lb-ft of torque at 4,800 RPM. A PerTronix electronic ignition module was installed in the distributor to eliminate points while maintaining reliability.

The engine and transmission are original to the car. The rear end is a 4.10 Positraction unit dated September 20, 1968. While correct for the period, it was built several months prior to the car’s early-February 1969 assembly and is likely not original.

This is the best-driving example of them all. The car idles correctly, delivers instant throttle response, brakes confidently, and operates as it should. The RS headlight doors function properly, the horn and reverse lights work, and the reverse lockout is operational. The turn signal cam and contacts have been replaced, though they are not as crisp as I would like.

Recent work and features include:
Rechromed front and rear bumpers
Correct reproduction gray spiral shocks (front and rear)
New complete exhaust system
Engine compartment fully repainted and detailed
Black deluxe comfort-weave interior
All new hoses and clamps
New RS headlight door actuators
New thermostat

New fuel tank, sending unit, and straps
Rebuilt front brake calipers
New front spoiler
New fuel pump
Rebuilt power steering pump
New fan clutch

Rebuilt starter motor and solenoid

Factory options include:
A01 Tinted Glass

D35 Center Console
D80 Rear Spoiler
N33 Tilt Steering Column
N34 Plastic Wood-Grained Steering Wheel

U35 Electric Clock
U69 AM/FM Radio
V32 Rear Bumper Guards
ZL2 Special Ducted Hood Air System
Z22 Rally Sport Equipment
Z28 Special Engine and Equipment
Z87 Deluxe (Comfort-Weave) Interior

On a scale of 1 to 5—where 1 represents a flawless, trailered car and 5 a rust bucket—this Camaro is a strong high-2.

The car curently owned and sold with a clean SC Title baught the car from Palm Beach April 7-9th of 2022 at Barret Jackson and was specialy featered by Graig Jackson and can be seen in the video attached.
