''Never did we imagine a world in which we'd prefer driving an electric car to a BMW. But Tesla made that possible with the Model 3, at least in the case of comparing it against the latest BMW 3 Series. From its balanced chassis to the smooth, quiet and instantaneous electric propulsion, the Model 3 will alter your perceptions of what EV driving is all about,'' Edmunds writes.
The 2021 Tesla Model 3 won several awards, including:
Best Small Electric Car: The Model 3 won this award at the 2021 Parkers New Car Awards. Edmunds Top Rated EV: The Model 3 was named the 2022 Edmunds Top Rated EV. 2021 EV of the Year: Car and Driver named the Model 3 their 2021 EV of the Year. TOP SAFETY PICK+: The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named the 2021 Model 3 a TOP SAFETY PICK+, giving it the highest rating of Good in all six crash test categories, as well as for how well its headlights illuminate the road ahead! The IIHS uses a different scale for grading collision avoidance features. It gave the Model 3 the highest rating of Superior for its standard vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system. 5-star safety rating: The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the Model 3 an overall safety rating of five out of five stars. 5-star Green NCAP rating: The Model 3 received a 5-star safety rating and a near-perfect 9.6/10 in the Green NCAP efficiency test. The Model 3 is a battery electric mid-size sedan that was introduced in 2017. It was the world's top-selling plug-in electric car from 2018 to 2020.
As U.S. News & World Report explains: ''While you can recharge the Model 3's battery at home with a 120-volt power outlet, doing so can take between five hours and four days, as it adds approximately 3 miles of range per hour. with a 240-volt outlet, or Tesla's Wall Connector, that time can be reduced to about 10 or 11 hours. You'll get 30 to 44 miles per hour, which can essentially recharge the battery overnight
For a faster charge time, consider one of Tesla's Supercharger stations, which can add 175 miles of range in 15 minutes. Many of these stations are located near shops or restaurants, and Tesla offers a premium connectivity plan that lets drivers watch streaming services like Netflix while parked. You can also play games using the touch screen or steering wheel while the car charges.''
