If you're looking for a good starter car for that young enthusiast, or a sporty grocery getting with a soft top, this one fits the bill!   Exterior With a slight deviation from our typical inventory, this Mustang has some obvious damage to the front end that affects the hood, fender, and bumper cover, along with a gaggle of other scuffs, large paint chips, dings, clear coat peeling, and general blemishes. That out of the way, let's note the car's Torch Red coverage and taped stripes to include broad ones over the hood and decklid and at the rocker panel with Mustang spelled out on the door. Up top, a black canvas top is in decent shape but also shows a tear and some wear. 17-inch Eagle Alloy wheels dress things up a bit more and could use a polish, while black rimmed three-part tail lights are unmistakable. The grille is intact even as the hood is slightly askew and with the top down, the dramatic rake of the front windshield becomes evident.  Interior Plastic door panels are uniformly black with the driver's side showing some patina that might respond to some detailing and both are fully intact. Our cloth seats with Mustang print on the inserts have seen better days, especially the driver's which is torn in places and discolored. The slight wear on the steering wheel and it fronts a standard instrument cluster that shares its trim rings with a pair of vents over the center stack where an integrated AM/FM/CD radio resides along A/C knobs. The center console could use some detailing also and houses a shifter with the missing dust panel over gray plastic and black carpet that shows some age. Gray panels finish the trunk which has some obvious use as well.  Drivetrain Under the hood in driver quality appearance is a 4.0 liter SOHC V6 rated at 210 horsepower and backed by a 5R55S 5-speed automatic transmission that routes power to the Ford 7.5 axle in back with 3.31 gears. Undercarriage Surface rust and typical metal corrosion is about, along with minor residual oil on the rear differential, but nothing is really out of place or affected by any invasive rust. Power disc brakes are on all four corners and a single exhaust flows through a stock style muffler, eventually exiting behind the rear bumper cover. Suspension consists of MacPherson Struts up front and a 3 link with coil springs and a panhard bar out back.  Drive-Ability No complaints here as the four liter delivers a quick start, smooth idle, and adequate power on the test loop. Overall, a solid performance with straight tracking and decent handling included, and all functions on this loved pony car operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Here's an entry level car with plenty of potential. Even with the bumps and blemishes, it's a drivable mode of transportation for a bargain price, and it has the advantage of topless capabilities!
