Seller's Notes

$89,995 Cruisin Classics is proud to present ot you this sporty and rare 1970 Ford Torino Cobra. Not only is this a performance Cobra model, but this Torino is also equipped with a 429 Super Cobra Jet engine and Ram Air! According to the Elite Marti Report we have for this car, it is one of only 1,475 cars equipped with the SCJ engine and Drag Pack package. The Drag Pack got you 3.91 Traction-Lok gears, an engine oil cooler (mounted ahead of the radiator), forged pistons, 4-bolt center mains, a solid-lifter cam, upgraded exhaust manifolds, and a Holley 4-barrel carburettor. This Torino Cobra no longer possesses its original SCJ engine, but it does have the next best thing - another 429 SCJ engine produced less than a year later in October 1970! Let's take a closer look at this phenomenal ride... This Torino comes to us dressed in a very slick respray of its original color of Yellow (Ford # 3470-A). The front end of this Ford looks like it means business, with a matte black shaker hood and Cobra Jet Ram Air scoop, exposed hood lock pins, a black eggcrate grille that covers the full width of the front fascia and surrounds the quad headlights, and a brilliant chrome bumper. As you move around to the side of this fastback sportsroof Cobra, its iconic Coke bottle styling really comes into focus. Adding some bright pop to the body are wheel lip molding, windshield trim, drip rail molding, belt molding, and door handles. Both sides of the car sport body-color side mirrors, and both fenders wear 429 badges and Cobra decals. The car sits on 15X7 Argent Grey steel Rally wheels with dog-dish hubcaps, all wrapped in Firestone Wide Oval bias-ply tyres - a perfect period choice for this Cobra (exactly as it was originally equipped according to the reproduction window sticker from Marti Reports)! At the rear of the car, you'll find another chrome bumper, dual chrome exhaust tips, waffle-pattern black plastic trim with FORD badging, and Cobra decals. Take a look underneath to see that this well-preserved classic still has its correctly painted original floorpans in excellent condition. Twist the hood pin locks and lift the hood to reveal a clean and tidy engine bay with a large Ford Blue big block at the center. This 429ci beast is topped with heads that are specific to CJ/CSJ engines, finned valve covers, a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, and a blue air cleaner with Ram Air scoop on top. As we mentioned before, the VIN stamp on this engine doesn't match that of the car, but it is a Ford solid-lifter 429 V-8 with Ram Air produced in late '70. This engine was factory-rated at 375hp, but independent tests at the time indicated a significantly higher output. Mated up to the big powerplant is a Ford top-loader 4-speed manual transmission that puts the power down via a 9 Ford rear axle with 3.91 Traction-Loc gears. Exhasust flows through cast manifolds and newer mufflers before exiting the tips with a commanding growl. Both steering and brakes are manual, with drums on all four corners and a new dual reservoir master cylinder When you open the drivers door the dome light comes on to illuminate a very well-presented black interior. The simplistic black vinyl door panels are in very good condition and they feature a Cobra medallion, armrest/handles, and window cranks. Both the front bucket and rear bench seats are covered in OEM-correct black woven vinyl and they are as comfortable as they are good-looking. Just ahead of the front buckets, a Hurst shifter with a white pattern knob rises from the floor. Overhead is a tight black vinyl headliner with no visors and underfoot is black hook & loop carpet. Ahead of the driver is a black 2-spoke steering wheel with an inop. horn on a stationary column. The black vinyl dashpad does have a couple of cracks, but the dash as a whole is in very good condition with nice bright trim. The dash is home to a 120mph speedometer, an 8K tachometer, and working gauges for fuel and temp. The heat and fan con
