102,853 miles
1970 Ford Torino Fastback In 1970, there were 13 models of the second generation Torino offered, everything from 2 doors, 4 doors, wagons, and sporty GT, and the high performance Torino Cobra. More than 230,000 Torinos were produced in 1970 and just 12,490 of them were non GT fastbacks, or Sportsroof as Ford called them. For consignment, a 1970 Ford Torino fastback showing 102,853 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This has been a one family car since new and it received a stunning paint job just seven years ago that is holding up very well and already turning heads of mall visitors. Exterior More aerodynamic than the first generation Torino, and although a brick by today's standards, this car has attractive lines that are accentuated by the two stage Nugget Gold Metallic paint that plays well with the black grid insert between the tail lights, black trim on the latch panel, and the eggcrate grille with inset dual headlights. The chrome and stainless is in great shape and includes the window frames, exhaust tips, drip rails, and robust door handles. 14-inch Magnum 500 wheels are the right shoes and the letters out presentation on the slightly staggered tires is also fitting. The sloping rear window leads to a slightly upturned decklid, suggesting a wing without going over the top. Imperfections include some blistering on front fenders, rough surface in the lower seams, and evident filler on front fender above chin spoiler. Interior Our consignor tells us the interior is original and it's fantastic! Iconically period with Ginger vinyl coverage that begins with big stitched sectional designs on the door panels and translating to ribbed inserts on the split bench in front and rear bench and each is in great shape. If we weren't sticklers, we wouldn't have noticed the rim crack of the otherwise nice steering wheel as it frames a high, horizontal speedometer and boxy gauges on a clean dash that includes an AM radio, black faced knobs, and a vent. The golden carpet shows some slight wear but is in good condition, protected by vintage style clear plastic mats. The headliner is high and tight, and the trunk is lined with a plaid mat and is also clean underneath it. Drivetrain The spotless engine bay houses a 302ci V8, rated at 220 horsepower and fueled via a 2-barrel carburetor. It's mated to a three on the tree manual transmission routing power to a Ford 8 axle in back. Undercarriage Super clean underneath, we'd say show ready and the minimal surface rust is barely worth mentioning. Headers send down dual exhaust that enter a pair of FlowMaster mufflers and find an exit through chrome tips. Drum brakes are employed front and rear and suspension consists of coil springs in front and leaf springs in the rear. Absolutely no complaints about the underside where we note a gleaming gas tank. Drive-Ability The trusty 302 comes to life with very little effort and propels this streamlined Torino onto the test loop where it performs well, doing everything from accelerating to coming to a stop with no issues whatsoever. We note the horn and reverse lights don't work but all other functions operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Here's an absolute time capsule and a fairly uncommon car. It even shows how we got our rock and roll on in 1970, through the AM radio, and we were perfectly happy with that singular option! We didn't mind shades of brown and green and vinyl never hurt anyone! This is a beautifully preserved car, and our Spidey senses tell us it won't be here long. Don't sleep on it too long. 0A34F164837 0-1970 A-Atlanta, GA Assy Plant 34 F-302ci 2bbl V8 164837-Sequential Unit Number Classic Auto Mall is home to more than 1,000 classic and collectible vehicles for sale via consignment in a climate controlled 336,000-squa
