This is a 1953 Chevy five-window pickup that I purchased from an estate sale. The truck had been stored indoors for many years before I brought it home. Once here, I found that it fired right up. As I’ve moved it around my dealership lot for advertising, I’ve noticed that if it sits for a while it will sometimes need to be primed, but once running it seems to run and drive okay. The truck moves under its own power, shifts through all the gears as it should, and the brakes do work, although they are stiff. I would definitely recommend upgrading the brakes if you plan to use it regularly on the road, but for moving it around my car lot and around the block, it has been just fine.
This is a true five-window truck. The five-window glass looks good, and the rear glass is in good shape. The windshield does have a crack, and one of the side windows also has a crack, but the windows do go up and down. The tires all hold air, but they are older and show some dry rot. The truck has a solid floor, the underside looks solid, and the box looks good with a plywood sheet currently in the bed. There is a little rust on one cab corner along with some dings and dents, which I would consider typical for a survivor of this age.
I was told that the previous owner, before he passed away, replaced the doors and installed a different box and fenders since the original box was missing. I am not sure what they are off of, but they fit and look fine for what the truck is. Overall, the body looks really good, and this would make a great restomod candidate or a solid truck to mechanically upgrade and enjoy driving as-is. It has a clean title that matches the engine number. This is a cool-looking, honest old Chevy pickup that gets attention wherever it sits. The license plate and license plate topper are not included in the sale, as they are part of my personal collection.
