If you want to charge at home, Tesla offers a proprietary Wall Connector. Alternatively, a major advantage of owning a Tesla is the large network of exclusive public charging options, including approximately 7,000 Superchargers at more than 1,400 locations across the United States.

Tesla also has charging ports at destinations like hotels, restaurants, office parking garages and more. The Model Y's infotainment system can automatically locate the nearest charging station, as well as help you plan a road trip or navigation around charging options.

Using the Tesla Wall Connector at home, you can get up to 44 miles of range per hour of charging. A Tesla Supercharger provides up to about 200 miles in just 15 minutes on the plug, though quick charging can be bad for battery health and longevity.

Tesla recommends only charging the car up to 80% capacity, partially because charging speeds slow drastically after reaching that mark.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2023 Model Y the highest rating of Good in all six crash tests and named the Tesla a TOP SAFETY PICK+, the organization's highest award. The IIHS uses a different scale for grading collision avoidance features. The Model Y received the highest rating of Superior for its standard vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention systems.
