1970 Plymouth Roadrunner

Love at first sight may be the overused theme for countless romantic movies, but it also applies to enthusiasts and cars. Some vehicles simply reach out and grab one’s emotions, and that was the case with the seller and this 1970 Plymouth Road Runner restomod, which is driven by a supercharged Gen III Hemi engine and features a host of additional contemporary updates, including a coilover suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, and four-wheel disc brakes. There’s also a custom “distressed” brown leather interior. The seller purchased the car soon after its build was completed, approximately two years ago, and it reportedly has only about 1391 miles on it.
Under the hood is a Vortech-supercharged Gen III 5.7-liter Hemi engine mated with a Twisted Torque-built 4L65E four-speed automatic transmission, according to the seller. The engine is said to “start and run like new,” with no smoke and no leaks. The performance-strengthened transmission is also said to “shift smoothly.” In addition to the engine and transmission, supporting driveline components include a custom aluminum radiator and a custom heat exchanger for the intercooled supercharger system, which is based on a Vortech V-3 compressor. There is also a 9-inch rear axle.

This Road Runner has been painted a custom-mixed green that’s accented with silver graphics. The paintwork is said to be in “concours” condition, with no swirl marks and no blemishes. Details of the bodywork prior to painting are unknown, but the seller reports “great attention to detail in the panel gaps and overall straightness of the sheetmetal.” No rust in the body, either. The glass and seals are said to be “new,” and the exterior chrome and additional trim appear to be in great condition, per the provided photos.
As with the exterior and powertrain, this Road Runner’s cabin has reportedly been thoroughly restored and upgraded. Highlights are said to include distressed brown leather trim on the TMI Products seats, door panels, dashboard, and custom-built center console, a custom headliner, 2-inch seat-track extensions, Dakota Digital gauges, Budnik steering wheel, ididit tilting steering column, Vintage Air climate system, and a Bluetooth-equipped custom audio system that the seller says “will blow off your hair.” With only about 1391 miles on the car, the interior components are all said to be in “like-new” condition, with no known issues or nonfunctional features


The chassis and suspension have been comprehensively upgraded with pro-touring-type systems designed to give the car a more contemporary driving experience, according to the seller. The upgrades include a coilover front suspension with tubular control arms, rack-and-pinion steering, four-link rear suspension with coilovers, and a four-wheel disc brake system with Hydoboost and a Wilwood master cylinder. The chassis was also modified with min-tubs in the rear, so that there would be room for the wide Continental rear tires, sized 315/35ZR20. Up front, the tires are sized 215/45ZR18 — and all of the rubber is matched with Budnik “Gasser” aluminum wheels.
