Seller's Notes

This 1959 Chevrolet Impala Convertible is an absolutely stunning, bone stock, and frame-off restored ragtop Impala that is absolutely loaded with options! When it comes to books and movies, most sequels fail to live up to the original. However, when it comes to the Chevy Impala, the sequel not only lives up to but arguably exceeds the original in terms of style, collectibility, and its status as an automotive icon. When Chevrolet debuted the Impala in 1958, it was not its own standalone model; rather, the Impala was the top-of-the-line trim package for Chevy's incredibly successful Bel Air series. Furthermore, coming out of what is now known as the Tri-Five era, comprised of 1955, 1956, and 1957, Chevrolet had completely redesigned its entire passenger car line for 1958 but those changes were not enough to lead the GM marque to outproduce its '57 passenger cars numbers. Towards the end of 1958 in October, Chevrolet introduced its 1959 model year cars to its extensive dealer network. Not only were the cars once again completely revamped from the previous year, Chevrolet spun off the Impala as its own standalone model in 1959 supplanting the Bel Air atop Chevrolet's model hierarchy. From nose to tail, inside and out, the 1959 Chevrolet Impala sported a brand new look. Once again, the hoods were flatter and wider, and featured a pair of jet-inspired air intakes above the grille, along with more pronounced bright rocket-inspired spears mounted atop the front fenders. Additionally, the front bumpers had a brand new, modern space-age look, and the '58 cross-hatch grille was replaced with a horizontal bar design that was subdivided with seven vertical bars that were each accented with a cylindrical knob ornament. Down the sides, the Impala was adorned with a wide Impala-only beltline trim that helped ensure that you knew it was Chevy's top-of-the-line Impala passing you on the road. The most significant visual changes in 1959 are what make the '59 Impala the icon it is today. The 1959 rear quarters were enlarged from the previous year, now with a seagull-like wing that surrounded the 1-year-only Cat Eye taillights. On the inside, the Impala was also entirely revamped from a new seat pattern, complete with the iconic Tri-Color patterned cloth insert, to modernized dash complete with an aircraft-inspired 5-pot instrument cluster and new-look stainless trim and interior panels. The Impala was also notably the only passenger car from Chevrolet in 1959 to be offered in a convertible which further elevated it in Chevy's lineup. This particular '59 Impala Convertible comes to us from collector who reportedly owned and stewarded this car for quite some time. Powering this '59 Impala is a Turbo-Thrust 348 cubic inch Chevrolet Big Block V8 fed by a single 4 barrel carburetor that together were said to have produced 250 horsepower when new. Exhaust exits the W-Series Chevy Big Block via a dual exhaust setup that produces a wonderful sound out the tailpipes especially when you're cruising down the road. The 348 V8 is backed by an upgraded TH350 Automatic transmission that makes this classic Impala Convertible a car that anybody can drive with ease. This 1959 Chevy Impala comes absolutely LOADED with options! To start, power steering makes squeezing into a tight parking space at the local car show an absolute one-handed breeze and the overall driving experience is much more enjoyable. Further assisting with challenging parking efforts as well as occasional lane changes are a pair of chrome outside mirrors that provide improved visibility alongside this impressive ride. Power brakes is another fantastic feature on this 1959 Impala since it makes bringing this 3,600+ pound Convertible to a complete stop much easier as well. This '59 Impala floats down the road on a set of wide whitewall tires, accented with polished Spinner wheel covers, giving the car a fantastic look whether you're parked at the local car show or going on a
