1968 Plymouth Sport Fury

The Fury was introduced by Plymouth for the 1956 model year as a series of the Plymouth Belvedere. It would eventually become its own series placed above the Belvedere. They changed drastically throughout their production being a full size finned car in the late 50s, a mid size car from '62 to '64 and then again a full size car from 1965 through 1974. To keep up with the times the look would evolve throughout their production and the fourth generation returned to the new C-body platform. The top of the line version available was the Sport Fury that was created to compete with the Impala SS and Galaxie 500XL. They offered a sportier interior/exterior trim package and had all the best features they had to offer. In 1967 the body was restyled with sharp angles and also introduced the iconic stacked quad headlights which brought it more into the muscle car world. This car is a '68 and they received mainly minor changes like a grille redesign and side marker lights but the rear sheet metal/tail light set up was also changed. The metal on the car is very straight, rust free, and has been repainted in its original Electric Blue (QQ1). The is then paired with a White power convertible top that looks great and it comes with a Blue top boot. The chrome and stainless on it is in great condition throughout and have a nice shine. The long smooth profile is further accentuated by the smaller rear fender skirts which at this point was getting phased out by most manufacturers. The glass is all in great shape and the top does have a real glass rear windshield. The car rides on set of nicely polished out Cragar 5 spoke wheels with Goodyear Eagle GTII tires.

Pop the hood and you will find the a Super Commando 383 motor that runs great. It is fitted with a chrome air cleaner with original decals and Mopar Performance finned valve covers. The car runs great and really looks sharp under the hood with the inner fenders and firewall all painted to match the body. It is a factory AC car but the AC system as been redone with a more modern Old Air system. That along with power steering and power brakes (front discs) make it a great driver. The motor is paired with a 3 speed automatic transmission that shifts smoothly. The undercarriage is all solid and the car sounds good through dual exhaust that exits out of the rear through chrome oval tips.

The interior has factory bucket seats and the upholstery is Blue with a vinyl and cloth combination. It has the original center console that houses the shifter and on the back are mounts for the lap belt buckles. The dash has a very stock look and is painted Blue with Blue dash pad. It has all of the stock gauges, controls, and even vents since it was ordered with AC. To avoid cutting up the dash the modern AC controls and stereo unit have been hidden in the glove box. The trunk has plenty of storage space and a Black mat which reveals zero rust looking underneath. It houses one of the original spares.

This is such a neat car with a great look. It has a unique combo of muscle car with full size car luxury. It is high quality but is also being offered up at an affordable price so will give someone an opportunity to get into the hobby without breaking the bank.
