This 1959 Plymouth Sport Fury "Christine" re-creation is a tribute to the title character from the 1983 film Christine," based on the book by Stephen King.
Only 17,867 Sport Fury hardtops were produced for the model year, and a reported 24 cars were purchased for the film finished in the Royal Red color utilized on the 1983 Camaro. This Fury was restored with the color and interior changed to resemble the infamous movie car.
Powered by a 318cid V8 engine mated to a push-button 3-speed automatic transmission, features include power-assisted steering and brakes, and upgrades were made to the wiring, and a modern alternator and additional gauges were fitted. The Sport Fury debuted as Plymouth's top-level model for the 1959 model year and featured a wraparound windshield, dual fender-mounted mirrors, anodized aluminum bodyside trim, raised tailfins, dual antennas and a sport deck faux spare wheel cover. Swivel front seats were standard, and additional features include textured aluminum dash inserts, analog clock, push-button AM radio and front lap belts.
