The Karmann-built body was finished from the factory in Emerald Green (L514) and is said to have been repainted in 2016. The front trunk and engine compartment were repainted by the seller in 2023, and the fender-mounted antenna, aluminum body trim, badges, and rubber seals for the windshield and rear window were also replaced. Additional equipment includes a driver's mirror, pop-out rear quarter windows, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers with overriders.Steel 15 wheels have been repainted Pearl White by the seller and wear chrome trim rings, replacement VW-branded hubcaps, and 165/80 American Classic radial whitewall tires. A bias-ply spare tire is mounted in the front trunk. The suspension is fitted with KYB Gas-a-Just shocks along with a replacement steering damper, steering coupler, and tie rods and rebuilt spindles. The braking system was also overhauled by the seller with turned rear drums, and a replacement master cylinder, wheel cylinders, front drums, and hoses.The interior was originally upholstered in Silver Beige vinyl and was retrimmed in tan with white piping on the front bucket and folding rear bench seats. Additional work consisted of installing beige square-weave carpeting over sound-deadening material along with rebuilding the upper door hinges, refreshing the rearview mirror, and replacing the headliner, sun visors, dome light, door panels, aluminum door sill guards, shifter coupler, door strikers, rubber wedges, check straps, rubber seals, door felts, anti-rattle plugs, dashboard pad, seatbelts, and trunk liner. The radio is inoperative.The replacement two-spoke steering wheel with a chrome horn ring fronts VDO instrumentation including a 90-mph speedometer, a fuel-level gauge, and an analog clock. The five-digit odometer shows 8k miles. True mileage is unknown.The rear-mounted 1,200cc flat-four was removed and said to be rebuilt and modified with a bored and thrust cut case, 83mm pistons and cylinders, a 26mm oil pump, re-bushed connecting rods, a refurbished crankshaft, and replacement lifters, rockers, and camshaft. The cylinder heads were also overhauled with replacement valves and guides, and the carburetor was rebuilt by VolkzBitz. The engine tin was repainted black and the heater boxes and exhaust system were replaced.A photo of the engine case stamping is provided above.Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transaxle that is fitted with a resurfaced flywheel.
