1981 DeLorean DMC-12

DMC-12 features include unfinished stainless-steel panels, gray urethane bumper caps, counterbalanced gullwing doors, a louvered engine cover, dual exhaust outlets, black side moldings, quadruple headlights, and a front spoiler. The windshield and the rear louvers of this example reportedly have been replaced. Exterior blemishes are pictured in the gallery below.Staggered-diameter 14 and 15 turbine-style aluminum wheels are mounted with 195/60 Maxxis MA-202 tires in front and 235/60 Maxxis Marauder MA-S1 rubber out back. A space-saver spare is stored beneath the floor of the front trunk. Stopping power is provided by ventilated disc brakes at each corner.The cabin features high-back bucket seats that are said to have been reupholstered in gray leather. Interior equipment includes a JVC cassette stereo, power-operated windows, central locking, power-adjustable side mirrors, and a tilting and telescoping steering column. The compressor for the air conditioning does not engage.The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames an 85-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline as well as gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level; the fuel gauge does not work. The five-digit odometer shows 65k miles, approximately 10 of which were added by the selling dealer.The rear-mounted 2.85-liter PRV V6 was factory rated at 130 horsepower and 160 lb-ft of torque. The selling dealer states that the fuel distributor was rebuilt, the cooling system was flushed, the oil was changed, and the distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, plug wires, and fuel filter were replaced in preparation for the sale. The engine smokes on startup, per the seller.Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. Corrosion is noted on underbody components.An owner's manual, manufacturer's literature, and a copy of the window sticker will accompany the vehicle.
