Stylesides also include bright side moldings with vinyl insert and bright tailgate moldings. Shown with the optional Tu-Tone, mirrors, radio, wheel covers, and white walls. From the '77 Ford Pickup sales brochure. For consignment, a 1977 Ford F-150 Ranger long bed 4x4 pickup truck showing 7,523 miles, but the true miles are unknown due to exemption. She's all original, including some deep patina, and trucks like this are getting more rare each year! Exterior Here we have the optional Tu-tone in all its vintage single stage glory, Cinnamon Glow brown over, (and under), Indio Tan and the molding Ford proudly boasted about is all there! Today, it might be about tech like lane assist and crash protection, but in '77, molding was cool! The cab wears a tan cap, adding yet another layer to the two tone, while cab lights and side mirrors leave no doubt this is a work truck for the ages. Up front, the chrome grille provides a classic face underscored by a straight, chrome bumper. In back, a heavy duty diamond steel bumper includes a ball hitch below the Ford emblazoned tailgate with molding that's in line with the vertical tail lights. Patina abounds with faded or discolored paint, a well used bed with some holes, paint that's simply worn away, a cracked windshield, and rust on the cab corner, parts of the bed especially around wheel openings, and dented metal trim in front. Interior The cinnamon inner doors surround a plastic door card with vinyl pleating with some general discoloration and patina but fully intact. Tan vinyl surrounds the tweed cloth surfaces of the bench seat and that vinyl shows age in several places. A newer steering wheel fronts the typical instrument cluster with square gauges and a vent panel and AM/FM radio in the center, all in decent shape. A tall shifter rises from the floor adjacent to the transfer case selector, based in tan carpet under a clean tan headliner. There's a Sentinel brake controller on board as well. Drivetrain We note some rust on the hood as we lift it to reveal a driver quality 300ci inline six cylinder engine with a 1-barrel carburetor. It's mated to a 4-speed manual transmission that can split power between the Dana 44 in front and the Ford 9 in back, both with 3.50 gears. Undercarriage Driver quality here too with plenty of surface rust and some rust through on the inner rockers, along with some residual oil and gunk. A single exhaust flows through a stock style muffler and brakes are configured as power disc in front and power drum in back. Suspension consists of radius arms with coil springs in front and leaf springs in back. Drive-Ability This trusty worker comes to life with no problem and we shift our way onto the test loop where she runs fine and handles road imperfections with ease. The cabin is the perfect throw back to the period and even the radio represents originality. We note exhaust leaks coming from under the hood and the horn is not working. All other functions in this example operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Maybe after a long day of work, you parked your F-150 and caught the latest airing of Battle of the Network Stars over dinner, or whatever else the TV Guide let you know was on. These were used as work vehicles and put away wet, so not many of them survived and despite the patina on this period remnant, it still has lots of life!
