Seller's Notes

1973 Oldsmobile Cutlass S Hurst/Olds Hardtop The Hurst/Olds is a limited production car built by Oldsmobile and Hurst Performance in 10 select years from 1968 to 1988. For the first time owners had a color choice in 1973. 1097 H/O's were built on the Cutlass S body and all had a 455 engine. You could order a black car with white or black interior and a white car with either a white or black interior. Hurstolds.com. A total of 1,097 1973 Hurst/Olds were built.  For consignment, a 1973 Oldsmobile Cutlass S Hurst/Olds hardtop with a title verified 37,517 actual miles. This award winning, numbers matching car shows the first year Colonnade body style used by Oldsmobile with a sweeping B-pillar that conformed to the shape of the semi fastback design. Exterior A striking visual specimen, the Hurst/Olds were offered in two main colors, black and this Cameo White which represents 60% of those produced, and both featured a greenish gold stripe package that is fantastically 70's and on par with Pontiac's GTO Judge adornment. Here, a double pointed side stripe is accompanied by a wide band over the hood center and a horizontal patch over the decklid, each matching the inside color of the 14-inch Olds Super Stock III wheels. Other notable features include simulated hood vents that would be embedded into the hood in '74, a vinyl landau style roof with fixed window, and dual exhaust out back. Imperfections include taped stripes that are cracking from age, some touched up chips on the nose, scratches on the fender, rock chips on the rocker panels and doglegs under the character lines, paint drips, and various other chips.  Interior White plastic and vinyl door panels feature a woodgrain insert and black carpeted lower and other that the armrest being discolored by time, both doors present nicely. White vinyl swiveling Strato bucket seats and their matching bench in back both look great with some light staining and wrinkles on one. The control area is pure Cutlass S with a very basic instrument cluster and woodgrain faceplates on the A/C and AM/FM radio panel. Some extra gauges have been added in the center console cubby and the star of the show is the Hurst dual gate shifter, epically cool and in this case, showing some slight patina on the faceplate. Black carpet below contrasts with the white headliner above and both the footwells and trunk are covered with Hurst/Olds branded carpet mats.   Drivetrain Clean conditions are found under the hood where the numbers matching 455ci L75 V8 resides. It wears a 4-barrel carburetor and is rated at 250 horsepower. Behind it, the numbers matching TH400 3-speed automatic transmission routing power to the 10 bolt rear axle with 3.08 gears. Undercarriage Clean underneath, too, especially the dual exhaust which runs through FlowMaster mufflers, then snakes its way to the chrome tips in back. Power disc brakes are supplied up front and power drums in back. Suspension consists of coil springs at both ends with a 4 ink helping out in back.  Drive-AbilityT he sub-40k mile Olds doesn't disappoint and makes its way around the test loop as if lapping Talladega, only at pedestrian speeds. The car runs well, tracks straight, and handles as well as a mid size personal luxury car from 1973 could do. All functions on this nicely preserved classic work as they should and it's back to the mall for this rare ride. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.  Hurst/Olds fans not only share a love for the relatively uncommon cars marked with the now legendary collaboration, but also are part of an enthusiastic automotive subculture you may never hear about unless you own one of these. Oldsmobile is an orphan brand of GM and special edition vehicles like this one are highly prized. This example is a great representative of the period's design and creati
