53,039 miles
1966 Ford Mustang Convertible Advertisements became popular reminders of the Mustang's youthful spirit, such as one featuring two mature adults sitting in a new Mustang with the words, Youth is a wonderful thing. What a crime to waste it on children. The 1966 Ford Mustang was the car to have if you were looking to win over your neighbor or hit the road for fun and adventure. It was also a must have for enthusiastic drivers and car enthusiasts who simply liked to drive. For consignment, a 1966 Ford Mustang convertible with a title verified 53,039 actual miles. This car presents in very nice condition and wears an AACA Driver Participation badge on the iconic grille. Exterior Two stage Nightmist Blue looks great on this car, contrasted of course by the white canvas soft top picked up visually by the white wall tires on 14-inch wheels wearing wire wheel covers. The side body lines normally terminate at an ornamental three ribbed duct in the quarter panel but in this case, it's simply delineated by an attractive white pinstripe. Out back, it's nothing but iconic design with tail lights that can be mistaken for none other and reverse lights set in the apron. The gas cap on the latch panel breaks up the run of dark blue and the plastic back window is crystal clear. The front is unmistakable as well and ranks high as one of the most popular classic cars in the history of classic cars. Rocker panel trim completes that fantastic design. Imperfections are limited to some light linear scratches on the hood, some curb rash on the wheel covers, and chipped paint at the front fender seam. Interior Two tone blue vinyl door panels present cleanly on both sides and this two tone palette continues with the bucket seats with texture weave pattern inserts, shared by the rear bench, and all in excellent condition. Everything from the steering wheel, instrument cluster, dashboard, AM radio, and vent levers present as original and show very little use. A center console houses the Ford T-shifter and is adorned with a ribbed silver stripe down the center. Blue loop carpet on the floor is topped with darker blue generic mats while the trunk enjoys the presence of plaid vinyl mat that was the trend in this period, and it covers the spare tire as well. Drivetrain Under the hood we have the 289ci V8 rated at 200 horsepower and fueled by a 2-barrel carburetor. It's mated to a C4 3-speed automatic transmission with power routed to the Ford 8 in back with 2.80 gears. The bay is clean and, not to sound redundant, original appearing! Undercarriage Driver quality conditions prevail underneath with some surface rust but overall dry conditions. We note an area of rust through on the very rear section of the frame. Beyond that, only surface rust is found. Drum brakes occupy each of the four wheels and a single exhaust runs through as a stock style muffler and terminates behind the bumper. Suspension consists of coil spring up front and leaf springs in the rear and although it was not documented, the shock absorbers look newer to us. Drive-Ability With a new fuel pump and accelerator pump installed the car fires right up. Slipping the shifter into D we were off like a prom dress to tackle the wilds of our fabled test track. Testing it in place reveals the turn signals, heater blower, and reverse lights not working. All other functional items work as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Get in line, in fact get to the head of the line. There is no doubt that convertible classic Mustangs are a top seller at Classic Auto Mall and this one represents an incredible opportunity to purchase a very original car that needs a touch of TLC. Our job is to make this car visible to the world, so you're competing with roughly 8 billion people. Are you dialing yet? 6T08C224231 6-1966
