1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL R107
California Car, Bordeaux Red Metallic
Super clean 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL R107 for sale. Manufactured in October 1985 at the Sindelfingen assembly plant and finished in its factory-correct Bordeaux Red Metallic over a Palomino leather interior. Notably, this example has spent its entire recorded life as an inland California car in Merced County, contributing to its excellent preservation.
Power comes from the correct M117 5.6-liter V8 (5547 cc), which starts easily and runs beautifully with no hesitation. The car drives exceptionally well, with smooth and tight shifting from the 4-speed automatic transmission (722.3 series), confident braking, and a composed suspension that makes it a pleasure on the road. The engine compartment is clean and tidy, featuring an immaculate hood insulation pad, and presents very well. Underneath, the undercarriage is clean, rust-free, and original, with much of the factory cosmoline coating still present—a strong indicator of careful long-term ownership.
The exterior presents extremely well. A high-quality repaint in its original Bordeaux Red Metallic was completed a few years ago to freshen the car, and it shows with deep gloss, excellent shine, and a very straight body. Brightwork and trim are in very good condition throughout. Both the hardtop and soft top are in excellent shape, with the soft top offering outstanding visibility. The car sits on a newer set of BFGoodrich 205/65R15 tires, installed less than two years ago, showing even wear and over 95% tread remaining. A European headlamp conversion adds a subtle and attractive visual upgrade.
Inside, the car retains a very nice original interior with minimal wear. The Palomino leather, door panels, carpets, switches, knobs, and gauges are all in excellent overall condition. Additional highlights include factory logo floor mats, a clean glovebox, original top tools and wrenches, and an outstanding headliner. All systems are in good working order and the ait conditioning blows cold. the European headlamp conversion does trigger a bulb warning indicator on the dash, a known and common side effect of the upgrade. The trunk is equally tidy, featuring clean carpets along with the original spare tire and jack.
Overall, this is a very attractive, well-sorted Mercedes-Benz 560SL in a more rare and desirable color combination, offering strong originality, excellent cosmetic presentation, and a rewarding driving experience. It is ready to be enjoyed immediately.
