First shown at the Chicago Auto Show in 1989, the Honda/Acura NSX (short for New Sportscar Experimental) blew the sports car world away with its incredible combination of performance, comfort, and usability. In comparison to the Ferrari 328 and 348 the car was benchmarked against, the NSX offered far superior ergonomics and significantly less maintenance expense versus its Italian counterpart - all while retaining similar performance. Much of this was due to its all-aluminum monocoque and extensive use of forged materials throughout the car, ensuring great strength and rigdity while keeping weight down.

Following several successful years on the market, Honda felt an open top variant would enhance the model's desirability and released the option in 1995. Featuring an ingenius system to store the roof panel in the engine compartment so as to not reduce storage capacity, the NSX-T was quickly a success, particularly in the American market where the coupe more-or-less became a special order option. Full series production commenced in late 1990 and continued through 2005. Today, the NSX is well regarded for its superb handling and driving feel - not to mention its part in showing the rest of the world a sports/supercar could be easy to drive, own, and maintain.
