“It was a car with Adrenaline”
Before further elaborating on the topic of infinite build diversity within the Porsche 911 chassis, we must highlight the main difference between street racing here on interstate 95 compared to routes like the C1 inner and outer loop, Gulfshore and Aqualine in Japan: direction. Here, the concept of street racing is short and straight – typically initiated with a rolling start and spanning from a starting speed to a finishing speed. Or just cutting up on the straight highway. However, street racing on roads such as the C1 Loop serving greater Tokyo involves tight turns and quick direction change requiring contenders to display good lateral grip, proper aerodynamics in addition to high output and quality while routes like the. Additionally, cars are put under load for long periods, sitting at over 300kph for minutes at a time safely on routes such as the Aqualine. Although it takes the shape of a track car, its designed for high speed agility.
RMC Miami is proud to present a true, blackbird-esque final boss Wangan 964: “Mogutan”
Not for amateurs.
MOTIVE
This example began life as a US-spec 964 Turbo that made its way to Japan before being highly modified. The exterior, interior, suspension, chassis, and powertrain blend to create a perfect silhouette of motorsport mentality for the street. Behind the aggressive persona lies very street friendly mannerisms for advanced drivers. Under the deep jet black paint sits a C-West style body kit paired with an aggressive GT style wing sitting on extended risers. A large splitter element sticks out from the bumper with complimenting profiled canards and bumper slots to relieve built up air pressure (found on the rear bumper as well). Separated exhaust tips stick out from the rear bumper serving different purposes: one side being the wastegate dump/screamer and the other coming from the back housing.
The body is complimented by a set of freshly-finished jet black 18” original Volk Racing Rays TE37 forged wheels which combined with the exterior personality, gives Mogutan a Batmobile look on the street with fresh Advan xxx. The spoke decals create an interesting circular hologram effect when in motion that gives the flat-faced TE37 a deep looking profile flying down the highway. With all of the recent attention given to modified widebody examples, it’s still nice to see what can be made of a true Turbo chassis.
To complement aerodynamics, this 964 is fitted with a set of recently-refreshed Quantum adjustable dampers that have been tuned to keep Mogutan balanced under load giving it a confident feel running at high speeds.
The 3.8rsr rear hatch does a pretty good job hiding the massive Blitz intercooler sitting underneath, cooling the air fed from a equal length header and big Garrett T04R/GT35R hanging underneath into a high flow 3.2 intake sitting on a fully built, balanced and blueprinted 3.3L motor, big cams, ported twin plug cylinder heads putting out over 500hp consistently. The ignition system and fueling are managed by a Motec ECU that shows itself off on the interior firewall.
Motorsport mentality on the street also means a focused and durable interior encased within the welded 6pt cage. Two Recaro SPG fixed bucket seats with takata 4pt harnesses, aluminum plated footwells, white faced gauges and neatly-mounted SARD JGTC EGT and Boost pressure gauges are all the driver needs.
Mogutan on the road is a out of this world experience. Planted on the highway, smooth shifting, responsive throttle. The quantum coilovers keep road feel solid. In vintage 911s the goal is to keep the goal is to keep the heavyset rear end planted – meaning heavy rebound tuning in the damper. The Quantum dampers
