Seller's Notes

Few automobiles capture the romance and elegance of the Classic Era quite like the great American luxury cars of the 1930s, and none were more admired than those produced by Packard. Known for their engineering excellence, quiet power, and refined styling, Packard automobiles became the choice of discerning motorists around the world. Among the most celebrated designs associated with the marque were those penned by legendary coachbuilder Howard Dutch Darrin, whose dramatic European-influenced bodies, featuring low silhouettes and distinctive notched doors, became some of the most desirable custom-bodied Packards ever created. Inspired by those iconic designs, the early 2000s saw the creation of a limited series of retro-styled luxury automobiles produced by the Bayliff Coach Corporation. Bayliff gained recognition for the Bayliff LeBaron, a hand-built neo-classic automobile that blended modern engineering with the elegant proportions and detailing of prewar luxury cars. Each example was carefully assembled with extensive craftsmanship, drawing inspiration from Packard's legendary coach built models while incorporating modern drivability and reliability. Offered here is an exceptional 1934 Packard Bayliff Victoria with styling by Darrin, a beautifully executed tribute to the great coach built Packards of the Classic Era. Said to have required approximately three years to finish before its completion around 2008, this remarkable automobile combines dramatic period-inspired styling with contemporary mechanical components and comfort features. The car presents magnificently in Lipstick Red, a vibrant finish that highlights the flowing coachwork and dramatic proportions. The exterior is complemented by a luxurious Biscuit Tan leather interior and a matching Tan Haartz Stayfast convertible top, creating an elegant and timeless presentation. Styling cues evoke the legendary custom Packards of the 1930s, including Darrin-style notched doors, a dramatic V-shaped chrome grille, split windscreen, and sweeping front fenders that extend rearward to form integrated running boards. Additional design elements include full rear wheel skirts, custom chrome bumpers, faux engine vents, ornate dual mirrors, and a striking set of 16-inch chrome wire wheels fitted with Diamond Back wide whitewall radial tires. Authentic Packard-inspired details abound, including Packard Twelve emblems, Packard wheel caps, Packard-themed dash and steering wheel badging, and the unmistakable Packard Cormorant hood ornament crowning the long hood. Beneath the bonnet, clever detailing continues with faux 12-cylinder valve covers and simulated exhaust tubing, visually echoing the mighty Packard Twelve engines of the era, along with a custom air intake system and distinctive fan-tipped dual exhaust outlets. Power comes from a reliable and well-detailed 350 cubic inch V8 engine equipped with Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake, Holley carburetion, HEI ignition, long-tube headers, and a Billet Specialties V-Trac belt pulley system. Cooling is managed by an aluminum radiator with electric cooling fan, while fuel is delivered via an electric fuel pump drawing from a polyethylene fuel tank through stainless steel hoses and lines. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission, providing smooth and effortless cruising. The fully engineered chassis blends modern handling and comfort with classic styling. It features independent front suspension, power-assisted steering, a Ford 8.8-inch solid rear axle, and an adjustable air-ride suspension system that allows the driver to tailor ride height and comfort. Stopping power comes from four-wheel power disc brakes, ensuring confident braking performance. Inside, the cabin offers an inviting blend of classic elegance and modern amenities. The Biscuit Tan leather interior is beautifully finished and equipped with dual 8-way power seats, power windows, air conditioning, and a JVC CD a
