Vespa 180 Rally
With the Rally 180 (VSD1T), the new flagship in the Vespa range was presented to the public in 1968. As can easily be seen from the frame abbreviation, this is a continuation of the great tradition of the Gran Sport and Super Sport models. The chassis is based on that of the Vespa Super Sport 180 and has been brought completely up to date with the current Vespa design by adding elements from the Vespa Sprint. The redesigned handlebar head comes with a 130 mm headlight and is adorned with a wide chrome ring. The speedometer with black dial reaches up to 120 km/h and the shape corresponds to that of the Vespa Super speedometer. As is usual for the top models, the Rally is supplied with a double seat. The glove compartment remains in the leg shield, but is more angular than on the SS.

In contrast to the previous top models in the Vespa range, a direct-intake engine is not installed for the first time. Instead, the rotary valve principle used in the smaller models for around a decade is used. This allows the oil content in the mixture to be reduced to 2%. The cylinder has three overflow channels and a stroke of 57 mm with a 63.5 mm bore. With a compression ratio of 8:1, the engine output is 10.3 hp at 5,700 rpm.
