Seller's Notes

This 1947 Lincoln Model 76H Convertible Coupe is a luxurious, post-war Lincoln with fantastic options and wonderful provenance. Despite having survived the Great Depression and World War II, the immediate post-war Lincolns were remarkably similar to the pre-war designs. The reason for this was because the American automotive manufacturers had ceased production of consumer vehicle production and their production facilities were dedicated to the War effort. Yet, instead of spending months or even years re-tooling their plants to accommodate new car designs, Lincoln (like virtually every other American manufacturer) opted to utilize the same pre-war body designs and modestly update decorative trim, interior options, and even, in the case of Lincoln in 1947, upgrade the power plant. Certainly the overall silhouette of the '47 Lincoln models mirrored those from 1942 and 1946, and even some features like the push-button door handles were carried forward into the early 1947 model year. Perhaps the most substantial upgrade for the 1947 Lincoln came in the form of the new engine, now capable of producing 130 horsepower rather than 120 horsepower found in the earlier version. In 1947, Lincoln offered two product lines, the standard Model 76H as well as the more expensive Continental. In both product lines, the most exclusive body was, of course, the Convertible Coupe, both of which sported the highest MSRP in their respective line. Interestingly however, the Model 76H Convertible Coupe is believed to be far more rare than the Continental since Lincoln produced 738 Continental Convertibles compared to 384 76H Convertibles. The easiest way to differentiate a Continental from the Model 76H is by looking at the rear; where the Continental has a bustle back hump for a trunk, the Model 76H has a more elegant sloping design for the deck lid. This particular 1947 Lincoln 47H Convertible Coupe comes to us from a meticulous caretaker who stewarded the car for nearly 40 years after reportedly purchasing the car from a collector based in Southern California. Under the hood on this '47 Lincoln Convertible is a 305 Cubic Inch L-Head V12 fed by a single 2 barrel carburetor that together were said to have produced 130 horsepower when new. The 305 V-12 is backed by a 3 speed manual transmission with overdrive that makes this 1947 H-Series Lincoln an enjoyable car to take for a cruise. Exhaust exits the 130hp powerplant via a stock set of exhaust manifolds and out through a single tailpipe, generating a terrific sound at idle and cruising down the road. Riding on full wide whitewall tires mounted on steel painted color-matched wheels and elevated with Lincoln emblazoned full wheel covers and Beauty Rings, this 1947 Lincoln Convertible Coupe has a fantastic look whether you're parked at the local car show or enjoying the car on the open road. The tan cloth power convertible top is in wonderful shape, raising and lowering effortlessly with the flip of a switch. Additionally, when the top is in its lowered position, it tucks neatly below a matching convertible top boot for a more streamlined look. Driver's side spot light is backed by an outside mirror, which together improve visibility and add some period-correct flair. The all-steel body has been refinished in Black paint, completing the exterior look of this wonderful post-war cruiser. The interior of this 1947 Lincoln Model 76H Convertible Coupe looks great! The front and rear bench seats have been restored using Walnut Tan upholstery, tastefully complementing the overall look of this Lincoln. The matching door panels, Caramel carpeting and floor mats, painted dash, and steering wheel all show well and they all retain a nice stock appearance. Instrumentation remains in its stock configuration as well, consisting of a 110 MPH speedometer, temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge, amp gauge, and fuel gauge. Interior is also pleasantly optioned, including front and rear cigar lighters a
